If you were kindly asked to rank the top 5 CD Burners, (desregarding price) how would you rank them?
Thanks..:) E.g. YAMAHA SAMSUNG SONY PLEXTOR LITEON |
Disregarding speed:
1. YAMAHA 2. PLEXTOR 3. TDK 4. LITEON 5. SAMSUNG My .02 <_< |
I really Like
Plextor Mitsumi Samsung Yamaha!! |
LiteOn
Yamaha Plextor Asus Ricoh |
Plextor
LiteOn Sony |
LG is a great one. Cheap and burns pretty much anything
|
Lite-On
ASUS Plextor TEAC Sony Half the cdrw's listed won't burn the copy protection out today, not even emulate them. If you have to use a cd crack on a copy then your copy isn't any good. |
1.Plextor
2.Yamaha 3.Lite-On 4.TDK 5.Samsung |
I love my new 48x Lite On.

Plextor, Yamaha, Lite-On, Sony, Mitsumi
|
plextor, yamaha, liteon, sony, hp

I have just replaced my old HP 4 speed for a LG 24 speed GCE-8240B with 8 mb cache ram works fast good and cheap.
|

My Choice .....
TDK - So far so good Yamaha - Quality is assured Plextor - Money for Quality LiteOn - Good value for money TEAC - No negatives from people |
Plextor
Lite-ON ASUS Sony Yamaha |
Ya, not too many LG's. I too just purchased an LG. It is werkin great and was pretty cheap too. Had a Sony before that and it worked well too. ...griz ;)
|
I have an old HP CD-Writer plus 8100 series and I think I will change it today :D
I have waste 4 CDs this week  When they are too big, my burner can't hold them  Ok, I just buy a new LG 52x 24x 52x :D for only $79.99 cdn :P Now it't time to install it |
I have a usb2 sony one one my laptop, it works great!! I had a hi val one from comp usa, but i had to take it back and exchange it for the sony because more than 90% of the cds i burned were coasters, thankfully i figured this out after just a few cds.
|
My 2 cents worth
I've had Mitsubishi Diamond Data Lite-on MSI Mitsubishi using Nero miles in front only one coaster in 300 - and it was my fault miko |
If speed and price didn't count, depending on reliability:
1. Plextor 2. HP 3. Yamaha 4. Memorex 5. Sony(All of the Sony CD-RW's that i've used are super slow, crap, and really bad. <_< ) |
Quote:
Sony doesn't hardly make any new cd-r/rw drive themselves lately, they started rebadging too, using LiteOn and Ricoh oem drives... |
@roadworker
The HP that I have is REALLY old, it's a 4x, but it still works great. The Sony that I used was a 48x, and it stunk. It was burning REALLY slow, even with 48x media. |
billybob3,was DMA enabled ?
Most probs about slow burning speed are caused by highspeed cdr-w drives that are running in PIO mode, instead of DMA...a 4X burner is hardly affected by that setting, but a 48X depends on it to get it's full burning speed!:) |
@roadworker
Ya, I don't know for sure, the Sony was at school...and if you change any settings there, the Computer Admin will try to butt rape :o you. He's crazy! :lamo: |
LiteOn
Plextor Yamaha HP |
