I am getting quiet a lot of noise from the fans running inside.(not the ball bearing problem-it's just the air flow).I would appreciate, if somebody can give an idea to reduce the noise, b4 my neighbour starts complaning about noise pollution pse. :mad:

you could tidy up the power supply wires and round your IDE cables. that could reduce lots of turbulence. you can also change to lower rpm fans, but your cooling would be affected then.

My cables have been laid veru neat.Is there any way you can reduce the speed of the fans ,as I dont have any intention of buying new ones.(my cpu & system temp is 34 c at the mo))

you can construst a baybus/fanbus. if you don't know what that is, visit Virtual-Hideout.

you can control the voltage to your fans between 7V and 12V. you've got to be handy with electronics tho. virtual-hideout has a few variations of the bay/fanbus.

you can also visit Fanbus.com. You can buy one as well over there...

I agree with ModD... My fans (all 7) can get a bit noisy at times. So I went ahead and bought a fanbus for the fans, when it is a bit warm I shoot the fans all out - when it is cool or I want less noise I turn them to low.

I will try the fanbus.the trouble is ,who is supplying them in UK.If not ,I have get my rusty soldering iron from the attic for action :D ( actually I thought of putting in voltage regulator chip)

Cheaper way is
you can tried to use the 12 volt fan and run it at 7 volt..
make sure its not your CPU fan..

My Tbird 1.2G o/c @1.33Gcome with a 60mm fan 7000rpm 2 ball bearing fan, moving air 38cfm, noise 46dba..

I replaced it with a
80mm Ultra Quiet Fan, , 2700rpm sleeve bearing fan, 36.50cfm, 30dba.
The noise level drop ~ 14-16 dba..

if you have many fans..most likely your box sound like a 747 taking off :)?

I just did the 12 to 7 v conversion.the noise has gone down quiet a lot.feeling comfortable to sit near the puter.:D

you should try cleaning the fan or otherwise making sure th fan is mounted vertically....

I just hit it with a hammer until it stops all the noise. ;) :rolleyes: :D

I have a fantastic homebuilt baybus working like a charm.:D :D

hehehe, zulu, I also try clamping big speaker magnets to either side of my box when that doesn't work.;) :D
