One word and one word only -> METALLICA !!!!!!

They are the most over rated and over paid band in history <_<

BigHead50 2nd Dec 02 12:11 AM

I agree 110% with Leech...

Metallica are a bunch of crybaby want-a-bees, that are Greedy Little Nothings to me....

Beatles, Beatles, Beatles!!! No talent hacks. Just because everyone listens to them does not make them talented.

I disagree, somewhat.....

I love all of their music. Music wise, they are one of my fav bands. But the stuff they do, ie, the entire Napster thing, and let's see, they haven't put an album out in what, two years now, and that was S&M, is rediculous.

The older Metallica Pre- "And Justice For All" was good - but then when they got the Want-a-be bass player (Who shoud have stayed with Flotsam and Jetsom), then came out and claimed they invented heavy metal (Black Sabbath are the ones who invented heavy metal)... Not to mention stereotypes everybody - Made me hate them.

Not to mention I can not stan Lars Ulrich - if he would fall off the face of the earth it would be no loss.

Another thing that makes me laugh is that Kirk Hammet thinks he can play guitar - The only thing he has going is that he had a couple of lessons from Joe Satriani .. Marty Friedman can play circles around him ....

Megadeth kills Metallica - The best thing that ever happen to Mustain was getting kicked out of the Want-A-Be Poser band.

You also know what Metallica is known for ??? They are known as the biggest poser band in history as well - ask anyone what their favorite song from them is and I bet they will say "One" - Ask them to name an older cd or song from them and I bet they won't know lol !!

PeaceDog 4th Dec 02 02:49 PM

I may get flamed for this one but in my opinion I never understood the facination with Nirvana.

Later,

Peace

Jessica 8th Dec 02 03:59 AM

Linkin Park and Nirvana..

those who said Metallica, are idiotic.
In the 80s....*NOONE* could touch Metallica.
In the late 80'-90's....*NOONE* could touch Metallica live.

And this coming from a HUGE fan of Megadeth.

Actually at one time I could play practicall every Metallica song - But I haven't touched a guitar in about 6 years, so I probably forgot them all now ;)

And also in the *80's* before "and Justice For All" they were a good band, but then when that album came out they totally turned POSER !!

MHO - Band like Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Preist, Manowar, and Black Sabbath are better than than they are and ever were.

Darkwolven 9th Dec 02 09:05 PM

Metallica. I liked them up to and including the black album. After that they totally sold out even before the Napster incident, even though they claimed they never would.

Beatles did some very original stuff for the time. I would contest that they were "no talent hacks".

I like Nirvana.

Poser Band: Ironically, Metallica labeled Axel Rose a poser in a different way. When they were doing the mega-bands tour, Metallica made one comment about Axel being so annoying because he toted this ramp on tour with him where he would run out to the audience and deliver his stuff. Ulrich thereby dubbed them "Axel Rose and his Ego Ramp".

O.k - Your age is showing here,, what are ?? 15 or something ??? Apparently you never heard them - Karl Logan is a lot better guitar player than Kirk Hammet will ever be - The guy has a Style and playability that is no match ;)

And Scott Columbus is one of the best drummers I have ever heard, not to mention Joe DeMaio is an awesome bass player - They also have one thing that Metallica don't have ... That is the fact that they never sold out and turned POSER !!! SO before you reticule something try listening to it and get the facts before you make a schmuck out of yourself ;)

Jessica 10th Dec 02 03:26 PM

21 actually.

..any band that names themselves after a jellyfish..
thats just funny.

they never sold out, because......noone wants to buy them.
but hey..if ur into big swords and cheese...by all means...dont let me stop you.

..and i never tried comparing them to metallica..thats your thing. if u need to convince urself they're better than _any-band_, go ahead. i'm not gonna bother wasting my time.

Actually the name came from Man-of-war : Men-of-war - A government vessel employed for the purposes of war, esp. one of large size; a ship of war .. ;)

Also Manowar is what they used to call the fighter plains during WWII ...

But for a band that you claim no one wants to buy, They sell out every concert they have - The one they had recently in Pittsburgh sold out in less than an hour .. They are a good band, I agree some of the lyrics are'nt that great, butt the music is good ...

But in any case I'm done with the discussion - Everybody has their own opinion and you are entitled to yours ... I don't normally blast someone for what kind of music they listen to, I listen to all of it myself, it all just depends on what kind of mood I am in .. I'm a true music lover, one that listens to all kinda and don't set his mind on a one side track ....

Jessica 10th Dec 02 09:26 PM

wonderful..u can use a dictionary...oh no...wait....reticule is a purse...... ridicule...is different.

anyway....

there's a difference between "selling-out", as in .."metallica sold out" as u claim (and i dont argue).
and "selling-out"... a venue. Metallica has sold out venues all over the world, ARENAS/stadiums ...no less.

But MoW hasn't "sold out" ...because, noone (labels/promoters/franchises/etc - not fans) wants to buy them.

just_do_IT 10th Dec 02 09:54 PM

Guns and Roses. They dont show up at concerts, the fans riot and the band gets 2-3 days of free publicity on the local news.

They been around for twenty years - So they must be something right ;)

Jessica 10th Dec 02 10:27 PM

i never said they weren't.

i'm just saying they'll never 'sell-out' because the mainstream doesnt want them.

geez...half the metal community..doesnt even want them :D.

man-o-war and their fans...are the butt of many a-joke.

Metallica isn't overrated, there guitarist alone made them a great band. Nirvana revolutionized music whether you like it or not, just like RUN DMC with rap. I could vouche for the Beatles, they did suck alot, but my piece of pie goes to Linkin Park. It amazes me that you can have a multi-platinum band without a guitarist who actually knows how to play it. I don't mean that he isn't a good guitarist, I am saying he can actually not play, literally.

Nemesis 19th Dec 02 01:32 PM

I think we may be forgetting that these are all opinions and we probably should not be arguing/disagreeing about something like this. It's just a bunch of opinions and that's why we have such a broad range of bands who are doing well, and some who are not.

That said, I THINK that the Beatles are the most over-rated and if Elvis was a band, I would include him as well. I don't really focus on bands per se rather, the actual songs/music.

I like songs from all over the musical spectrum...from classical, bluegrass, country, rock, metal, oldies, rap, reggae, pop (including certain songs from girl bands/boy bands), alternative (which isn't really alternative anymore), and even opera.

My .02!!!

Backstreet Boys and Nsync have been around longer than Nirvana ever was.
Nirvana did nothing to "revolutionize" music.

Beatles revolutionized music. They were doing farout things before anyone else did.
Using eastern instruments in western music; etc.

well I'd have to disagree with you. in my opinion Nirvana did revolutionize music, wich by the way has nothing to do with how long the band is around. Maybe they revolutionized music in a slightly diffrent way, with nirvana it was the the lyrics more then anything else. They really showed all the hate in the world, and what was wrong with the world.

Jessica 20th Dec 02 02:41 AM

"They really showed all the hate in the world, and what was wrong with the world"

didnt lennon do the same thing w/ songs all you need is love and Imagine

RadiationBoy 20th Dec 02 06:05 AM

yeah I guess but I guess it was the way that Nirvana did it. Nirvana basicly introduced the world to Grunge music, it got a way from he pop and all that. They were the first from this genara (yeha i know I can't spell wirth shit) that really became popular.

anyway thats what i think.

Yeah they were the first grunge band and the ones who started the whole seattle scene .. Just Like Bon Jovi did with Hair Metal, Black Sabbath did with Heavy Metal, Elvis did with Rock and Roll (well that is kinda false, Bill Haley and the comets were the first "Rock" Band Just elvis increased the popularity), Bill Monroe did with Blue Grass, and Hank Williams did with Country .. You all see where I am going with this.
