Difficult to choose between these two Mick Taylor - The Rolling Stones have been second class without him or Jimmy Page - Led Zepplin
?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????????????????????? |
Hendrix and Clapton - best ever. Page and Taylor are right below them though.
|
Randy Rhodes, Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix, Santana, Eddie VanHalen just a few I can think of
|
Jerry Garcia

"Difficult to choose between these two Mick Taylor - The Rolling Stones have been second class without him or Jimmy Page - Led Zepplin"
Puh-Leeeeze! Stones have been second class since Brian Jones was murdered. Page? Nah! The best? " 'Scuse me, while I kiss this guy!" (Oops!) Dudes, it's Hendrix by a MILE! |
Maybe not the best, and at least one of the best: Brian May.
I mean really, take some time and listen to the early Queen records, and try and denie it. He's awsome! But, of course, for the very best it's hard to choose between Hendrix and Clapton, But then again, it's a matter of taste, don't it? |
Gilmour, Van Halen, SRV, Satriani, Lynch, Vai, Karl Logan, Darren Householder, Eric Johnson, Lenny Cordola, Richie Sambora, Dave Murray, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, and The guy from the group America just to name a few.
When I think of more I will post them |
Gilmour, Hendrix, and Van Halen
|
Do none of you Remember THE Greatest Blues Player EVER ???
Stevie Ray Vaughan.......... He IS the ONE..... SeeYa :) |
I agree with you bighead. SRV was the best and most underrated guitarist ever!!
|
SRV was a god !!! He is one of the reasons I play guitar - I would sit in my room for hours trying to learn his leads ... Saying he was great is an understatement,, he was a god !!
You can find peope who can play SRV but the thing they lack is the fact they can't play like SRV,, he had a style all his own and he can never be matched or imitated. |
1-. Jonh Petrucci (Dream Theatre)
2.- Steve Vai 3.- Yngwie Malmsteen 4.- Joe Satriani 5.- SRV IMHO :P :D  |
I would say there is no such thing as a greatest guitarist, it really is a matter of preference and musical genre.
I noticed most of the posts centered around rock and blues guitarists but let's not forget the other formats..... Andres Segovia comes to mind, one of the most amazing players I have ever heard. There have also been several blue grass pickers out there that would make some of these speed medal guys look like they were playing in slow motion and they are playing on acoustic guitars. I personally was most influenced by Eddie Van Halen. Later, Peace |
Jason Becker
John Petrucci Michael Romeo |
would not say. the best. but one of my favourites
Brian May |
Eric Clapton for me, he played the smoothest music. But then again, Eddie Van Halen knew how to rock.
|
Randy Rhodes has to be at the top of my list...id have to say that Slash has to tie for first also :)
