2M/384k cable here... :P

Raid762 28th Oct 02 11:17 AM

Damn I hate 56k , at least it has unlimited hrs and downloads. I would probably burn up the crappy bandwidth limits in a day if I had one of the current broadband connections.

JacKDynne 28th Oct 02 01:16 PM

I can't tell you how many times I have tried to get fatter pipes, all to no avail....

I suppose "direct pc" satellite would work, but 99.00/month for the first year is a little out of my budget...

what they promote for...

I'd like to get that, but I don't pay the bills. I only have the 512/128 service. Upload bandwidth is too shite to run a good FTP. I would really like to start one for B1, but I don't have the bandwidth. :)
Can't wait till University :D

what is VDSL? :o

Aragon 2nd Nov 02 09:33 PM

Vdsl is a dsl standard. Today i'm using adsl. Vdsl is much faster than adsl. I think vdsl can have a max download of 52 Mbps and 19 Mbps upload.

Cyberion 3rd Nov 02 10:47 PM

I'm currently on a campus LAN that is serviced by 7 T1 lines. One T1 is for the students/dorms and 6 for the library and admin/teachers offices.

2002-11-03 17:40:46 EST: 716 / 363
Your download speed : 716917 bps, or 716 kbps.
A 87.5 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 363438 bps, or 363 kbps.

well there I am..

i wish we had more bandwidth but then doesn't everyone want that?

Regards,
Cyberion

TheCrossMovement 6th Dec 02 04:09 AM

Wireless connection to At&t broadband on the other PC in my dad's office. Supposedly the speed is 11 MB per second, but I don't know if thats true all the time, 24/7.

Sephiroth 6th Dec 02 05:05 AM

1500 down 256 up ADSL.... i'm happy with the downstream, upstream sucks though, and there's no isp anywhere around me that offers a faster upstream until you get into the full T1 lines, way too expensive for me lol

cappaberra 6th Dec 02 10:02 AM

I got 768/128 cable...

but going back home to my uncapped/384 cable... w00t.

uncapped = approx 6Mbps limit

:P

Vinnie 6th Dec 02 11:39 AM

1500/256 ADSL, the only decent option I have.

Nemesis 15th Dec 02 11:25 AM

Heck, I can't remember what my ISP (comcast.net) says I should be getting.

The speed tests I have run say ~ 972kbps/65kbps. Hopefully, they upgrade the lines...like that's gonna happen. But then again, if I could afford the $95+ a month for the "Pro" package I'd be getting "up to 3.5Mbps/384Kbps".

Oh well.

RadiationBoy 19th Dec 02 12:31 AM

well right now I'm on 56k b/c I'm at home %&^$*&%^$#*#%&$#&$#@&%$!!!!!!!!!!

but when I'm at collage I have nice fast internet, and there is no download limit...or at least there doesn't seem to be I downloaded about 10gigs in like 4 days and no one said anything lol. They do care about upload, the cut your connection almost instantly if you start uploading and sharing stuff lol.
