Jessica 17th Dec 01 04:32 AM

I have the 5in1 WinXP
and CuteFTP does not want to work right.
It works every so often, but i keep getting errors (the "Send Error Report" error).

I've tried Win95/98/ME/2000 compatibly mode, but nothing.

Anyone have a clue why? or some other FTP prog I should use?
I tried FTP Voyager, i didnt get errors, but it just wasnt user friendly

thanks

Free - SmartFTP,
NOT - CuteFTP Pro

I use Flash (UP/DL), DL Expert (DL)and FTP Pro(UP/DL) all without any problem.

Sending this to ftp help

If you want ease of use in a program, use BitBeamer (http://www.bitbeamer.com/). If you want a powerful, stable, and common prog, opt for FlashFXP. If you want something free, try SmartFTP.

Btw, I don't recommend you go near CuteFTP or WS_FTP. I've had some of the worst experiences with them, plus they are not compatible with some FTP servers.

Did I hear anyone say LeechFTP? Nope... I didn't .... well if you don't know about this one you should try to find it. It's simple and allows multiple threads... so if your on a high speed connection you can connect several times to the same server (if they allow it) and bypass any server speed limits they set.

It may be getting kind of old... but it's one of the best at what it does and I've never had it crash on any system of mine, where it be Win95, 98, ME, 2000 or XP. Oh.. plus... it's free :D

[b:7cd4780d0a]DopeWeasel[/b:7cd4780d0a] , in case you didn't know BitBeamer is built on LeechFTP. It includes all of LeechFTP's features and has a much better interface. So use BitBeamer instead, I wouldn't want to work with a discontinued prog like LeechFTP.

DopeWeasel 18th Jan 02 06:13 PM

True, True.... guess I got a bit old school on ya'll :p

WHAT ?[/color:bbcc6f6ba3]
Don't talk down on LeechFTP, the only reason the author has stopped the development is :
No need to fix what's perfect[/color:bbcc6f6ba3] :D

Actually, I have been using this puppy since it first came to life, and I will not stop using it.
The "only" fault is missing FXP support, and msising support for multithreaded downloads of single files.
But you get what you pay for, it's free[/color:bbcc6f6ba3] .

just_do_IT 5th Feb 02 05:19 AM

Leech FTP is by far one of the best for free ftp clients around IMHO. Its easy to use and configure as well

I really like the interface of Cuteftp, but I find that I get transfer errors ALOT with it, and of course its not free. I find this especially true with Windows XP and 2K.

DopeWeasel 5th Feb 02 06:26 AM

Well thank you... I should say that I haven't even tried BitBeamer yet. But I do plan to.... err... somday.

Leech was allways one of my personal favs.. and yes... the most stable of all I've ever tried.

fallenknight 6th Feb 02 01:10 AM

Well from my experience i have used a few of them and found bulletproof to be th ebest one out there

digital.death 6th Feb 02 02:16 AM

FlashFXP :D

ernest 7th Feb 02 02:22 PM

I have no problems with either Cute or W-FTP pro,my preference is for the WS.

Nos4ah2 19th Feb 02 08:20 PM

Bulletproof is nice, but it's hard to find good cracks that continue to work for it.

But I like the interface.

techman2830 23rd Feb 02 08:47 PM

I have several difererent ftp clients on my machine but the one I use most often is FlashFxp. I find that for most of my connections, which do not allow more than 1 connection, FlashFxp is the way to go because it is easy to use and always gets the job done.
It handles auto resuming and long path names where other programs don't.
Everyone has their own preference about the combination of
features and controls they want in their FTP program. For me this
this is the best.

Server 23rd Feb 02 11:03 PM

I use Bulletproof ,Flash ,and Smartftp all seem to do the job

Cactus 24th Feb 02 01:53 AM

Hi,

I've used FlashFXP a while now, and I didn't see any reason why to try anythin else. But since some of the "die hards" gave so much credit to the LeechFTP program, am I'm gonna give this proggie a try.

Still, FlashFXP workss for me till now, no probs what so ever, always ould connect, although I had to toggle some of the passive/NAT/FXP Up/Download options sometime.
