Installed Lindows 2.0 the other night- removed it quickly and then installed Mandrake 8.2 but couldnt access any of my NTFS volumes. Is there a package out there that would let me access NTFS through linux?

Mandrake 9 managed to mount and view my ntfs partitions.

Although write support may be dodgy.

Any distro can view NTFS partitions, however you must recompile the kernel in order to take advantage of it.

NTFS write is real dangerous btw as craftyc pointed out. Well who needs NTFS while you can use XFS ;)

Damn- i have 60gig of info on NTFS partitions and was thinking of going linux- puts paid to that idea!

i allready had a linux server here n i loved it ;) but since my main work is with windows i changed a bit n the HDD was keeped getting
full... :blink: :D

now i'm stuck with a 'blouted' system but cant change it... :(

i ear that u have to manually change the etc/fstabs (or something like that, can't remenber now :unsure: )
so u can see NTFS partitions

could someone give a more specific hand on this??... :o

i'm thinking on changing to SUSE 8 (or United when it arrives ;) )
but i need to b sure if all my data will be available for sharing... :D:D

Unfortunately writing to an NTFS partition is still dodgy due to the driver. I don't know when it will be stable enough to put into the kernel tree.
