I figured since it being sold on computers @ WalMart, I believe that their might be some though on what Lindows is like. I may try it, on a spare 2 gig drive that I have.

Any thoughts, feeling, complaints, or praises? :)

In have been using it since it first came out, right now it will network with windows boxes and will find a printer across a windows network with no effort at all, it does ok for now

Any compatibility issues yet??

I find it is still a little picky of apps...but 2.0 is looking better than the early versions

is a little faster not as sluggish...is worth a look imho

can someone hook me up w/ an iso of lindows 2?

Stringent 15th Oct 02 02:43 PM

I tried installing it on VMWare (before I read this post!) I get to the prompt but can't start X even after installing the vmtools for a linux machine.

I don't like it when it says about 'taking over a hard drive' that is quite worrying!

adams 15th Oct 02 04:27 PM

vandal, you can go to www.lindows.com and buy a copy of lindows cause we don't share copies of it.

vandal 16th Oct 02 03:49 AM

actually I got a copy of the iso, however its linux. Linux is free, and why pay for free software?

Especially when lindows is based on debian, a distrobution I have contributed to... doesn't add up.

Besides, I was unable to social engineer a copy from the lindows ceo's secretary, but atleast I tried.

rikytik 16th Oct 02 11:09 AM

I installed it. It's just Linux. I'm trying to learn Linux and Lindows is sure not the way to go for that. Keep Windows if you wanna run Windows programs.

If you want Linux get RedHat 8.0, Mandrake 9.0 or SuSE 8.0.

devilotx 16th Oct 02 12:29 PM

You dont actually pay for lindows, you pay for access to the one click install area of lindows
