Errr...ok...I did up to step 4.....but there seems to be no
changes made??? Did I miss something ???? Am I then supposed to reinstall XP all over again ??? |
If all went well you updated your source files to SP1 now make the CD
|
.....and then reinstall ?? (I'm confused)
Do I choose upgrade, full install?? Note: I dual boot...(winme)on C Last edited by Rickkins at Today at 8:09 pm |
Do an upgrade install, I'll assume your using your legit copy and key. But if all you want to do for the time being is update, just run the sp1 installer update your exisiting install that would be best for now.
The slipstream is to create an integrated CD for a fresh install as SP1 |

...so I should be ok just to use the update as is...??? |

If you want to keep all your programs & settings intact, boot from your SP1 CD & when you get to choose where to install, highlight your current installation & choose Repair ( R ).
All your programs, email, etc will be unaltered but you are now running SP1 Last edited by swampy at Today at 12:43 am |
Another great tutorial. Thanks !

Hi to all
I just slipstreamed 'official' M$ SP1 into WinXP but I'm not sure if I've done it correctly, and I have a query or two about the CD/ISO size before and after slipstreaming, which I hope someone can answer? The CD and ISO size before slipstreaming was: CD: 512.342.016 (488MB) ISO: 512.342.016 (488MB) CRC: 0x6E8390C0 Afterwards: CD: 562.116.608 (536MB) ISO: 538.765.312 (513MB) CRC: 0x74E6F234 I used WinISO to make an ISO image of the CD, then copied the contents ot the CD to another folder. I then slipstreamed SP1 into the XP folder, then opened the ISO and deleted the contents. I then copied the newly integrated files back into WinISO, saved it and then burnt it using ISO recorder (I could not find the option to burn the ISO image in WinISO) Regards I don't know why the CD and ISO sizes are different after slipstreaming but if anyone can comment on this, I would appreciate it. |
Thanks a lot man,i needed that info.
