I assume you all are running Corp XP Pro that was, initially at least, already activated. If so, then it'll be interesting hear the results of your activation call (if you do so) for those using a BlueList key.

I've been emailing some friends in a couple large corporation regarding SP1 (mainly to see if they received an advance copy - they didn't). They seem unaware that they will now have to activate thousands of their workstations IF they install SP1. However, most replied that the "powers that be" in their companies were not going to use SP1, incidently.

Still, it's difficult to believe that M$ would require the large users (who pay the REALLY big bucks) to activate each and every work station. That goes against their big propaganda push when they went for the yearly licensing fees, that each company would save money because of the more complete M$ update method. Now they come along and say that the MIS people will have to activate every work station?? I don't think so!

SP1 doesn't have anything of interest for large corporations, so I suspect they'll continue to receive the routine "bug killer" packs that do auto install over the network. But then what about the "hash table" Product ID thing? M$ will most likely have a new auto install, not the new timed method that's a hassle, routine in their next SP (which would have been the first REAL SP1 anyway - this SP1 probably should be labelled the "Do it 'cause the Court says so SP", anyway).

For those worried with a possible 180-day limit in their EULA files,
This post may be useful...

...or maybe not ? ;)

hanovski 2nd Sep 02 01:20 AM

Éula says 180 days but I don't worry....
1. because I put my BIOS clock a year ahead and all was well
2. no install ever lasted 180 days on my machine

modevil 4th Sep 02 12:08 AM

Had 180 day Eula when I installed 1106 over 1105 did a fresh install and installed 1106 and 180 day Eula went away. :)
