Tried to change my key using the procedure from

h*tp://www.labmice.net/WindowsXP/articles/changeID.htm

Found some good keys and when I tried to change the key, all
were invalid. My current key is the one at the top of the Corp
keys FCKGW

Does this procedure work?

Thanks
Gary

edit by rad: just made the link so it wasn't a hyper link.

Found the error of my ways, was using Pro instead of Corp to search for the key. The Corp seach gave me no keys, so I used one on the list and it changed.
Is this I have to do to install SR1?

I actually posted that link (See XP Black Listed Keys thread). Yeah all the keys on that site are BLACKLISTED, thats why they don't work ;)

Gary

as so many average users requested i'd put this here:
if u wanna change to change the product ID in Windows XP, do it in both below:
go to Registry by Run > Type: Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > ProductId

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > WindowsNT > CurrentVersion > ProductId

you have to change the Product ID in both location, identically :)

zonko 29th Aug 02 11:26 AM

@mcored

not no more! no can do. The product key cannot be changed in this way
