I Was Scammed On Ebay!!! Grrr!
I cannot believe this! I was scammed on eBay! I ended up using the "Buy It Now" on an item costing me $400! I used PayPal to pay for the item. I decided to make the purchase because the seller had a really good feedback rating. Well, the purchase was made on Friday. I get an email today from the seller stating this:

You do not know how angry I am. It takes a whole lot to piss me off (try to find 1 posting here on B1 where I was pissed off - you won't find it)... I guess there is always a first! Am I screwed? What other options are available to me... I am not all that happy about the possibility of losing $400 of my hard earned money for something I will be getting nothing in return! If nothing is done about this I may never use eBay again! GRRRRR! -SlickVic78 |
Sue eBay if they do not give you a 100% refund.
Post what happened on a ton of web sites and make a web site about it. Then send it to fox news, cnn, abc, cbs, msnbc, nbc, etc. I don't know anything about ebay so. I would get a lawyer for sure though. I believe in most states over $100 is considered grand robbery. That is if they really did rob you. So it's worth getting a lawyer if they think you have a case. |
Very interesting turn of events. Apparently one of the other members that were also scammed happened to be a cop. He got the sellers information and gave him a call. They may have made the seller poop a brick because now the seller will be refunding all of us the money we spent on the items (seeing is still believing though). We shall see how this all pans out.
I tell you one thing though. I'll never make a big purchase like this on eBay anymore unless there is Buyer's Protection! A lesson learned! -SlickVic78 |
looks like it is going to work out
glad to hear it |
Agreed.. I was actually curious why the seller didn't want to disclose their name nor their friends name. Since they personally have nothing business-wise binding them. ie.. you could be best friends, but never go into business with the person.
I guess, by how you put it.. this person who ran away not only lost a friend, but also crediblity for himself and his friend who is receivable on the paypal account. |
There prolly is no "friend" involved.

Wish I was as lucky in the turn of events as you - I got scammed a couple of years ago for $600 :(
No recourse for me as the guy closed shop and moved - police reports filed in CA where he was but to no avail  Glad it worked out for you though Vic :) /JD |
Hello M31,
I paid with money I had sitting in my PayPal account. So no credit card was actually used. If that were to be the case, for sure I would have disputed the charge. We are now waiting on seeing if the seller does actually live up to what he said and begin refunding us our money. Let's hope this is the case... I'll keep you all posted. -SlickVic78 |
Contact your states Attorney General office, they should help.
|
This "friend" cannot be a friend as he would have known the account holder would of got in trouble with the buyers.
So I would have said, if I was the account holder, fcuk it heres his address/details etc and when you catch him, give him a punch from me ;) |
Well, so far eBay has terminated the seller's account. But you do know how easy it is for the seller to reopen a new account and continue selling on eBay. I mentioned to eBay in a satisfactory survey that there needs to be much tougher regulations on giving members the ability to sell on eBay. There should be regular checks to be sure that the seller is following eBay's policies, etc...
So what that they terminated the seller's account. This still doesn't give me back the money I am entitled to getting back. So far, I have found out that one person was issued a refund as of last night. So let's see if the rest of us (about 18 others) will get a refund as well! -SlickVic78 |
Wow! Talk about being very lucky! So after following instructions from the seller to file a complaint with PayPal, today I just got notice that I am being refunded the full amount I paid for the item. It is currently pending. I should have the funds refunded to my account by no later than Wednesday.
This made my day & weekend! :) -SlickVic78 |
Glad to hear that!
A learning lesson for anyone following this thread. ;) |
Maybe KC, but what exactly have we learned?
To me it seems as I have learned that a seller with a splendid history and good reputation can be a crook, and that one might have such a luck to get money back, or you might not. Congratulations SlickVic! |
Glad to hear this Slickbuoy!
Interesting action by Pay Pal. Makes me feel better using them :D }---:) |

Very glad to hear the happy encoding SlickVic. :) |
I never ever let my friends use my ebay account. That was PURE stupidness on his part to let someone do that. I have sold stuff for my friends, but I did it, not them. You are quite lucky to get your money back. Mind you if you pay by Credit Card they have fraud protection don't they?
|
Hey Flanderz,
I did not pay using a credit card through PayPal. I had used funds that were already within my account. I could have disputed the charge if I did pay using my credit card, as one way to protect myself, but that wasn't the case. Anyways, I did in fact get my refund in full. It posted back into my account yesterday. I consider myself very lucky since you hear all these stories of people getting scammed and not being able to get their money back. -SlickVic78 |
