Burning DMG files in Windows to work on Mac OS X [RESOLVED]

Hi,

I have a iMac G3 with Mac OSX installed but currently it has no internet connection. So I downloaded Firefox 1.0 on a PC. Now I just need to burn the DMG file to a CDR so it works on the iMac.

Code:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0.1/mac/en-US/Firefox%201.0.1.dmg
Right now I have no clue how to do this. I would appreciate you could give me a hand on this.

Thanks,
McoreD

Why don't you convert it to .iso?
A MAC can read iso too.....

Already tried dmg2iso roadworker. Unfortunately it didn't work. I get invalid or unknown image format for the ISO file. :(

A compressed .DMG then.....can't you burn it as data file with .Iso restrictions in Nero and mount it under MAC enviroment?

Thanks I will try that. :)

Btw, I guess this won't work for all the software. I mean if the DMG file is a bootable software, will this method still work?

I would expect so.....after all,a bootable windows image that is burned as data, can be mounted afterwards and be perfectly burned with Nero or other software that supports that perticular imagefile....
I think that this is the same with a MAC OS...

Another update...:)

Used ISO Buster 1.7 to convert the DMG to BIN/CUE. Some DMG files successfully converted but some didn't. I guess the failed DMGs are Apple's new format of DMG. Unluckily Firefox uses this new format I think.

Further tests...
Out of those DMG files which got successfully converted, bootable software CDs had read errors in the iMac. Software CDs without boot information were properly readable in iMac.

Thanks for all your help. :)

That sucks.

Actually Will from my latest findings, it seems that those DMGs are compressed DMG which cannot be properly read in currently available Windows software. I burnt this DMG file to a CD as a data file and used it in a Mac OS X system. The DMG mounted just fine. The files were readable too. I finally managed to install Firefox that way. Lol I might be still very new to Mac.
