What to get for my birthday?

Hello All~

In less than 2 weeks, I'll be turning 27... ... My girlfriend is nagging me since she wants to know what she can get me for my birthday. I really dunno. I am not trying to be difficult at all. This is the same scenario when we were going about getting Christmas gifts...

So, I turn to all of you... How about a few suggestions... What cool gadgets are out there (since I am all about the gadgets)...

I promised her I'd let her know by Sunday night...

Any suggestions?

Thanks! :)

robinwilson16 4th Feb 05 10:48 AM

How much is she planning on spending?

marcovaleriof 4th Feb 05 11:57 AM

what about searching in h**p://www.iwantoneofthose.com/

some cool things.. but personally I would prefer something more personal.. do you get the idea?? ;)

SlickVic78 4th Feb 05 04:38 PM

Hello robinwilson16,

I am not expecting her to spend much on me.

====================

Hello marcovaleriof,

I'll be sure to check out the link, thanks. She thinks I am the worst person to get something for. But the truth is, I pretty much have everything I want... So that is where the problem comes in... Believe me, if I knew of something I would have let her know, or at least give her the hint that I was wanting something. ;)

how about a Panasonic cordless phone???:)

SlickVic78 4th Feb 05 10:45 PM

LOL! The phone was actually a gift from me to my brother, and my brother to me since we are twins (fraternal)... So we went in half and half as gifts to each other... Somehow I knew that the phone would come up...

Damn you beat me to it. lol

Um how about some cds or dvds or something. Or nice head phones if you do not have any. Or any computer games you want.

Well if I were you I would just go out spend a few hundred on her instead, but of course still make the event about you and her. :)

But that's just me.

Go some place nice. Be romantic, but still relaxing.

At least a 100 miles away. Makes that much more special since I doubt you will or her will be going there in a long time.

I mean if you both are into that kind of thing. We both go to NC when one of our birth days arive. Mine is in the summer, AUG 13 and her's is in the winter, Dec. 7 so it pretty fun. Summer sports for birthday and winter sports for her. I enjoy her birthday better every time. ;) I love snow boarding and snow sking. Fav sport besides soccer, of course. :p We normally go for an entire week and first two days is just me and her. And then both families come which is sweet since we just love each other so much. ;) No but you know its cool cause we get time together and time with our familes. Seeing as both of us live by ourselves away from family. But thats a good thing. Cant stand my two younger brothers, they drive me insane. Though I am still within driving distance, just 30 mins away about. Though my mom works about 2miles away from my dorm which is nice since I can see her thoughout the week if I need to in person. Though for past two years I still come home every weekend. And right now I am living at home until next semester. Since I am only taking two classes on campus and at night. From 4:30pm to about 8:15pm.

Finally starting linux administratioin and windows server 2003. Kinda funny cause at the same time. Just glad I have not got confused yet which is pretty much a mircle.

SlickVic78 5th Feb 05 12:59 AM

Hey Will,

Thanks for the idea, but the our schedules on the weekend for the next 2 months are booked. We wouldn't be able to go during the week either any time soon because she needs to put in notice at least 2-3 weeks in advance... So in a way, the idea is pretty much shot... BUT - it will be kept in mind for another occasion. :)

Yeah i know how you feel. That sucks.

Guess that means getting laid is out of the picture. :p

PCTech 5th Feb 05 03:57 AM

oh i got it, how about signing up for vonage and letting me get a free 2 months of service and you can have 2 months free! Happy Birthday to you and we both are happy? :) I still like the batteling tanks idea I found better though!

come on admit it, thats the coolest thing you could do to pass time in the office!

What to get someone who has everything they need...

Personally.. when my birthday came around, my sister gave me a watch. A beautiful time peice. :)

BAM...
Code:

http://www.casio.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=products.detail&product=OC500D%2D2AV#
Its not what I was looking for.. but beautiful craftship.
Code:

http://www.worldofwatches.com/detail.asp?Sn=384268070&dept_id=131&pf_id=7691&pageno=2&special=&watchsp=
I was looking for a watch with the LCD face, that combines a digital read-out along with a "digital" analog read-out. There are no hands, just one LCD screen. I believe that Casio makes this, but not 100%

SlickVic78 5th Feb 05 04:50 PM

Hey Cyberion,

She bought me a watch for my last birthday. :) You see where I am having the problem now... I have just about everything I know I want... Unless there is something cool that just came out that I am unaware of.

If you have a laptop, this is a nice gadget......I wouldn't mind to have one myself....:)

SlickVic78 5th Feb 05 10:35 PM

Hello roadworker,

That is a nifty little gift. I do have a laptop, but it is set up to stay at home since I use it as my web server for when I am developing code for client websites. And I have it set up to just "netmeeting" into the system, so there is no need for another mouse (since I have the Wireless Optical Desktop Elite from Microsoft).

Thanks for the idea though. :)

A pen {stylish one too}

Waterman, Mont Blanc, etc.

I think the ideal thing here is to stear away from geeky toys, cause the just break down. :(

A pen/watch.. a friend of mine told me about cash bonds to invest in the future...
A Tie, Book (non-ebook)

Though one geeky toy..
100mbit Internet connection (sustainable for life - you don't have to pay monthly charges... ;) )

Maybe this ?

SlickVic78 7th Feb 05 03:51 AM

Hey Cyberion,
I received a beautiful Waterman Paris Pen/Pencil set with my name engraved on them for our 1 year anniversary. :)

Hey Fisher,
That would be nice, but I don't think that will happen any time soon. I'll stick to what I have - a 2001 BMW 325CI. :)

Thanks for the suggestions guys... My time is running out. So the last resort will be a couple of shirts - button down, or spring time shirts.

Hello Firefox,

*Clears throat* ummm... I have some time for that... Not married just yet... Not even engaged... So far things are well between us - been dating for over a year and two months. We are pretty serious, but the marriage thing is still a bit in the future... So no babies for us yet... ;)

Hello All,

An update on the gift(s). 2 days ago, I had mentioned that I thought a friend's wallet was pretty cool. My girlfriend picked up on that and ordered me one (even expidited shipping since she wanted me to have it on my birthday!).

It was a J-Crew wallet. It has 2 sleeves on each side that holds cards, and the inside is an elastic band that holds both sleeves together and holds money inside. I have attached 2 pictures, the actual one I got (black outer with brown inner) and another picture that shows you what it looks like open.

I got a few other things as well. Mostly some cash, and a few gift certificates. You can never go wrong with gift certificates! :)

So all in all. This birthday was pretty nice. Very relaxing... I was very lazy today. I guess you are entitled to at least one lazy day a year, no? ;)

-SlickVic78

roadworker 18th Feb 05 12:32 AM

Nice gifts.....

About the wallet,is it able to keep it's money inside when you're leaving your house?
Maybe she bought is because it's easy to get it opened... :D

SlickVic78 18th Feb 05 01:19 AM

Hey roadworker,

The money straps into the inside of the wallet, so it won't come out. It is just as easy to take money out of this wallet just as it was to take it out of my old wallet!
