Wish Me Well!
All,
I depart tomorrow for sinus surgery, something that's been plaguing me for years. I've got the barometric pressure sinus kind (sinus baratrauma), kicks my butt whenever the weather changes. If you've got it or had it, you know what I mean, and also know how miserable it can be. The doc told me there's no guarantee I'll get better; in fact, he's reluctant to do it as it could make it worse. But, I'm going through with it, regardless of the risk. The good thing about this is that it's a free trip to Tokyo (military base), and as it's out-patient surgery I have like a week to do as I want before I have my follow-up appointment before returning home. So, some time to sight-see, eat some good food, and just chill for awhile away from work. A free 10-day trip to Tokyo--not too bad! I don't know if I'll have a computer I can connect with while I'm gone. If I do, I'll update you when I'm down there. torataka |
Best of Luck m8 - say hello to Keru in .jp ;)

Hope all goes well and have fun while you're there.

Best of luck mate, last time they broke my nose and resized my nasal passages to try and alleviate the symptoms. It's not totally successfull but it's nowhere near as bad as it was!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm here where the surgery will be done, had my pre-op today and surgery tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting it done, my only regret is that they put me under--I wanted to watch them do it!
I'll check back in once I'm mobile and my nose won't drain in public! torataka |
All,
Had my surgery yesterday, the doctor said it went very well. In addition to cleaning the sinus passages he also cleaned out some polyps that were in there. I was a bit fatigued yesterday from the anesthesia, but feeling much better today. After a long hot shower I got most of the blood clots out, draining problem seems to have gone away. So, I'm back out in public already, and may take a short trip to a near-by Tokyo neighborhood this afternoon just to kill the boredom. I'm glad the surgery is over, I wanted it done but there's always the thought tucked in the back of your mind something might go awry, especially since they're working near the eyes and brain. But, all ended well. torataka |
Very glad to hear that.
I too, am also in need of the surgery, but the doc.Z are going to address the "psychological illenss" first!!! Guess I'm bipolar so I will need help w/that too! |
Life is a risk and taking more risks for a better qaulity of life early on is a good bet. Good luck.

Good luck dude. I had my sinus's flushed about 10 years ago. Was crap. Blood everytime i blew my nose. My passages are also too small, so I have this constant nasel drip. But hoping to go for another flush soon
but yeah. good luck, and enjoy the trip! |

its good to re-visit the past.
especially events that brought love and cheer to mind. In this case.. clear passages. :) New meaning.. safe passage.. ok.. corny.. isn't it.. |
Now all we need is to hear from torataka and see if all went as well a year later as had been hoped for.
Thanks Dudelive |
Hey Everyone!
LOL, I haven't visited B1 for awhile, and when I come back I see this thread has been reserrected. Isn't that something?!? If you're curious, the surgery went very well, but I was horribly miserable for about the next 5 days. During that time I wasn't supposed to blow my nose or sneeze (now, how in the hell...!) to avoid tearing the tissue in the surgery area. On the 5th day I went back to the doc, and he stuck this long, thin vacuum-like device up both sides of my noses and sucked out all the built-up mucous (yeah, I know, pretty picture). Oh, what a relief! You can't believe all the stuff that came out, and even though it was a bit painful the relief in the end made it worth the while. Now, a year later, I can absolutely recommend this procedure to anyone who might be suffering from weather-induced sinusitus. As a follow-up treatment I squirt an 8-oz bottle of warm water mixed with a pre-packaged saline solution up both nostrils daily as part of my shower routine. This has helped keep the sinus passages clear, and I feel as good as ever. Plus, the sinus rinse I believe is responsible for keeping me healthy--I haven't had a single cold since I started. I'm so glad I had this surgery, and if you're in a position where your doctor recommends this procedure--go for it!!! Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to see Keru, but I was able to visit Akihabara and Shinjukui!!! :p torataka |
Very glad to hear this + update Torataka.

Gees, yeah also thought "What The Hell" about this thread being revived from nowhere. It's good to hear the OP went well even if it's a year later.
/me slaps *mo* for being a dumbass. |
This thread might have been brought back in the open so we all could say hello to you and hope all is well, but you already answered that. Don't be so long in stopping back by.
Thanks Dudelive |
