Um well u need to set your passive port to a single port. For example 33316. Or at least a known range. Seems to be ranom atm?

Well trying to figure it out for ya. Did u ban me or ftp die or something.

I connected one time. And then disconnect and waited 65secs and tried again and got:

[L] Connection failed (Connection refused)

Tried again five min later and still same error.

Hello User need and War 59312

Tks for your help, I think I got half setting done right and the some pieces are wrong. My system is XP Home running SP1 with no firewall. Like I said before, I am behind router with port 21 and 20 opened in router pointing to PC which hosts the FTP server. Is there any other settings that I need to try. I can change it .

As you can see I used PASV mode and I also had the option "Use site IP for PASV mode connections" in FlashFXP ticked. I presume that is the same as the option "Site uses NAT/IP Masq..." in earlier versions of FlashFXP.
I'll try a little later, from home, again.

Hello unicorn

Tks for your trail, I have made change in Cerberus to use the router address as the passive connection instead of choosing the "auto" command. I hope this help.

Tks for trying , any suggestions on setting change

miki 19th Nov 04 05:28 AM

Hello Hotrod

Tks for your great effort. I have put in the router ip in the Configure Server options-> interface option -> PASV field.

miki

miki 19th Nov 04 05:51 AM

Hello Hotrod

I have clicked on your provided link and IE reported back with "cannot find server" .

miki

miki 19th Nov 04 05:59 AM

Hello Hotrod

I have no firewall and running XP Home SP1 and with router port forwarding 21 and 20 ,both TCP, pointing to the local PC which host the FTP server. Latest checked the cable modem IP is the same as provided in the beginning of the post. Account 'guest' has upload and dnload rights set to it.
I don't know what else needs to be set in Cerberus. I had it working about 1 months ago but PC fails then I forced to re-format hard disk so life began once again. Just a bit of history. ;)

Cheers

miki

HotRod 19th Nov 04 05:59 AM

no, need to use a ftp client and check IP masq just like trying to go to yours. Can't use IE. Security update doesn't allow the @ sign Also you should be able to log into your own server. I can see in my logs where you were attempting [ipmasq was needed].

Forward port 20 - 21 to your machine
Forward ports 20300 - 20350 to machine
Advanced start 20300 stop 20350 and check deny reserved ports
Interface options auto
Look at pics I sent you.

Then try to log into your own server. Should go

miki 19th Nov 04 06:17 AM

Hello Hotrod

I am trying to change the config as you advised, please clarify that I need to port forward 20300 and 20350 in my router as well. Tks.

miki

miki 19th Nov 04 06:21 AM

Hello Hotrod

For port forwarding 20300 and 20350 to my PC, I can't do that because in my router the port only go up to 9600. Any other port I can use ? Am I doing what you suggested ?

Tks

miki

miki 19th Nov 04 06:24 AM

Hello Hotrod

I used FlashFXP to log into your URL and it seems to works as I saw changing directory but possiblly log out by your side.

miki

unicorn 19th Nov 04 06:51 AM

Now, from home, I get Connection refused. But I guess you allready knows. I'll check back later today.
Meanwhile check out this nice place:
Code:

http://www.web2ftp.com/
Do some testing yourself after minor changes in the setup.

Good luck,

HotRod 19th Nov 04 07:01 AM

Just find a set of unassigned ports
_http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers
3954-3983
4043-4095
4161-4198

Like I said...You should be able to log into your own server when set up right.

miki 19th Nov 04 01:21 PM

Hello Hotrod

Morning, Tks for the port advise. I try that later and hope I get thru, If I can do some testing myself that would be fantastic.

Hello Unicorn

I try the German site www2ftp . I can login but hanged when "list" command was used. Do I need to do something in XP Home to let port 21, 20 opened by setting Internet connection firewall on. Thx

miki 19th Nov 04 07:21 PM

Hello

I installed the CaesarFTP server and port forwarded the ports that recommended for passive connection. I tested by using www2ftp and I am in. G what can I say, switch to CaesarFTP seems to be a logical step. I still like to test it a bit more so please give it a try. Many many tks

HotRod 19th Nov 04 07:27 PM

What I tried to say in email. Try a different server. I log in and says it listed, but nothing there. Try to make a folder, says it did but don't see. Check rights

richardc2000 19th Nov 04 08:46 PM

I got it too
and it was just like my Xmas stocking last year - nothing
couldn't make a directory or upload a MP3 file

miki 19th Nov 04 09:45 PM

Hello richardc2000 and hotrod

Tks for trying, I have revised the user rights to read/ write on file and directory. I am new to CaserFTP server so please excuse me for that. But one thing did puzzled me is that after somemone logged in the pre-assigned folder would disappeared from root and I need to add it back in. Why ?/

tks n regards

miki

unicorn 19th Nov 04 10:11 PM

I can't explain the problems described above.
I trid to connect a few minutes ago, from work again now. No problems with logging in. Transfering a file wasn't that smooth. I lost the connection twice, I think, before disconnecting. When reading the file it was the same again, I lost the connection and reestablished it repeatedly. Maybe you should set the time before dropping connections to at least a minute or something. (Unless there is another problem).

[I used FlashFXP, PASV mode, ticked the option to use site IP for pasv connections, and I'm still behind that corp firewall.]

rikytik 19th Nov 04 10:13 PM

your ftp works fine here miki. I downloaded a file and upped a litle jpg image for you.

HotRod 19th Nov 04 10:42 PM

miki,
seems to be working now. You'll just have to figure the little things out as you go. Know nothing about CaserFTP so can't help you out.

miki 20th Nov 04 02:37 AM

Hello to all testers

A thanks note to all of you for your time and effort, especially Hotrod for your tips, I thanks you from the bottom of my heart. What a great support from Betaone members. I need to test somemore, so I will keep the server a bit longer.

Tks and regards
