/me is running 1920 X 1200 on a 23" apple cinema display on PC

Zone-MR 27th Oct 04 12:02 PM

At home: 1280x1024 x2
At uni: 1024x768

I have a habbit of not viewing browser windows full-screen on high-res monitors, so I can have more on the screen at a time. So it's not unusual for me to view windows at 800x600 (possible longer vertically) on 1280x768 monitors.

The current layout actually scales very well... It shows up on even 800x600 monitors without the need to scroll vertically, yet it still looks nice and clean on higher resolutions. It would be good if this didn't break, as I generally consider sites which try and force a particular resolution to be crappy web design.

Totally agree with you Zone on site that not scale to well.........
Just trying to figure how to go about the sitebar switch.
when you have a moment check the status of the new skin.

I'm always running in 1024 X 768 :)

adams 27th Oct 04 03:16 PM

on the laptop i'm running 1024x768, but at home on the 19" i'm running 1280x1024. so i'll vote 1280x1024 since that is what i use the most.

war59312 27th Oct 04 06:46 PM

If I am so bold, I would still say 1024x768 is still the average.

HotRod 27th Oct 04 06:54 PM

1152 X 864 17"

Unique Touch 27th Oct 04 07:38 PM

Voted: 1280 X 1024

Go finer that 1280x1024 and I'll need a magnifying glass. :)

KingCobra 28th Oct 04 02:49 AM

Finally i'm not alone @ 1920X1200

What's the pixel response time on the 240 T?
I'm using an apple cinema display 23" same res at 16ms and i can't ever go back to anything smaller......

They don't know what they are missing!!!

I voted 1600x1200 (stationary machine). A 20" LCD screen makes it possible. I like it the small way anyway and I also like it with the screen being 4x 800x600. The laptop is a cheapskate and a mere 1400x1050.
Is there anyone that has a good laptop with a 1600x1200 screen? If so please drop me a note about brand and model and your experiences!

Thank you for all the work with the new look. And the new feel to, now I have to really look up new human posted stuff among all the robotics posts... :)

Hey Sony;

not sure what the pixel response time is, but I have a FX 53 AMD 64 machine, with a 6800 GT video card, so it really a sweet setup!!

The monitor is 2 years old, so I am sure its not quite up tp a challenge from your Apple Cinema; I love that monitor, but didnt want to deal with the things you have to do to make it run on a Wintel machine..

Nice setup ,
i just ordered this GT for my system:http://www.bfgtech.com/6800GTOC.html
I really hope i choose a good one always hard to pick the better model from the tons of brands

The new cinema display don't need any special requirment for working on a win PC all you need is just a dvi out =)
The older model required a conversion box from apple to dvi

From reading i think your monitor is about 20-25ms response but you can't beat the size of it, well apple as a 30" now but the price it's an overkill

Let me know how's your GT performing....

Not sure ANY size monitor is really overkill!!
interesting to hear that the new Cinema displays don't require any type of adaptert to work on WinTel machines..I will probably get one one of those once my Samsung either dies or gets moved to someone else in the house!
I have been very pleased with the 6800Gt; and its about $100.00 less than an Ultra, and at least that much less than its ATI equal...my system is only 3 weeks old,so I cant say how well the card is built..Mine is the PNY version...

the prices of these high end video cards is just getting out of control, though..
