I like to start off by thanking all of you for testing the connection specially richardc2000 for his valuable pointers. OK Let start over, shall we :P

Just a bit of history about the last test, as I was failing to get connection to internet and I did the last solution which was to unplug modem and router. Without knowing the modem has assigned a different IP and router also assigned another internal IP for the PC which host the FTP server. So I was lost lost for couple hours then I found out what has gone wrong.

The current situation is I can connect to server in my LAN and able to access the directory and read file content. So I would like to trouble all of you to read the file and test up-load a file of yours , a small one please and download the file in that directory. Tks Tks

Please ftp to 69.199.120.255 using login name and password as "tester". The server is up for the next 8 hours.

One more thing, in my router, I have port forwarded port 21 as TCP and port 20 as TCP to point to the PC which hosts FTP server.

Yes, you are right on my error :huh: . I have added upload right for tester now. I just tested internally LAN can upload and download the data.

BTW tried port 20 and 21. Turned off hardware and software firewall. Turned of anti virus. Sill no luck.

And just for kicks to make sure I could access ftp ok I ftped a few other members and could fine but your always times out.

BTW or you on 56k or something? lol

I got another tester who can even log on but he has tested with other friends' server and he has login OK. Can U advise which client you are using ? Tks a lot

Tks for your effort, I am on cable modem and one other tester has successfully uploaded and download file . I am asking him which cleint is he using but this should be the issue. I am quite puzzle by it. One moment. I thought I can sleep better to-day but then may not be so :(

I tried a few minutes ago using FlashFXP 3. I had no luck, my log is here:

Line 4 is interestening. When servers don't work you most often gets "Connection refused" or "Connection timed-out".

I got the same result using www2ftp.

I can log in with..UltraFXP...FTPRush...and SmartFTP. either way...anonymous or tester

Another tester has advised me that he has used SmartFTP, UltraFtp and FTPRush all can access the server for upload and download. The login name and password for "tester" is "tester". Same as "anonymous" user has "anaonymous" for password.

Tks for advise, May I ask why when I am testing with my freind, I can upload , using WS_FTP client ,to his server and he only have port 21 open only. In my case, I have both 20 and 21 open, he can come in and that is all. He can't list the directory althought I have assigned the same right as "tester" account to his account . If he login as "tester", he cannot list directory at all. This really puzzle me as you are only one that worked so far.

I haven't changed any setting after your success. Please advise

Have to connect to you passive, port won't list.
Anymore when I know another server is behind a router too, I use FlashFXP...UltraFXP..or FTPRush. UltraFXP and RushFTP automaticly adjust for fact both behind router. FlahFXP have to check the tab IPMasq. Usually when running standard port [21] that doesn't matter but seems to on yours. Doesn't account for the fact others can't even find you. Thing that gets me is you only forward 20 and 21 and I'm able to connect passive and pull port 32948.

Any way, have no problem connecting, downloading or uploading.

I was now able to login (tester/tester) and also uploaded a little picture with no problem. Seems as you have solved the problems.

Tks for letting me to try out my client but I still cannot connect to yr server, I ahve the same error message. I am using WS_Ftp client with this client I was able to a friend's server. Ahah my router port and XP firewall is not open for port 22. I go to do that now. :huh:

Yeah it must be a nod issue miki. I think its my isp problem. Nothing me or you can do about it. My ftp has been online ever since I posted it.

Seeing as it times out every time before it even gets to your ip address. See the results of doing a tracert.
