The topic asks it all. I've always used elby and loved it. Who can say why Slysoft is better?

roadworker 23rd Sep 04 01:05 PM

Slysoft's is better......now you can backup dvd 's too and the latest version is also capable of backing up Safedisk 3..22 with emulation. :)

HotRod 23rd Sep 04 01:41 PM

I thought they are same thing. Newer versions Just rebranded with new name Slysoft

DoG 23rd Sep 04 07:59 PM

Always wondered the same thing myself really. Weren't Elby told to stop producing CloneCD due to copyright laws?

Way I understand it.... move to a server in a different country and change the name.

Is Slysoft a new company from Elby?
No! We re a software company on the beautiful island Antigua. We have our own management and software developement team. We purchased software from Elaborate Bytes and continue the developement. Our relationship to Elby is based on business.

Yeah, i agree with waht HotRod said, thats what i have always heard. They are just covering there arses ;)

I knew about most of this, but was wondering if the Slysoft version was better or if they went backwards. Also, from what I can see (correct me yada yada....)
CloneDVD seems to be in developement with both companies.

Officially,Slysoft aqquired the permission to sell CloneDvd too......but it wouldn't surprise me if our well known Oliver Kastl is involved in both Elby.ch and Slysoft... ;) ...

I just wanted to know if they both use the same key file to register it.

Make that 100%.....older "Slysoft" versions did(if your "Elby" version was less than a year),but they changed the registration process....Elby customers who can provide an original key for the Elby version, can have a discount now.:)

Nope that was changed as soon as slysoft bought clonecd, they did honor elby's commitments tho and issued keys to people who still had time left on the update period, with this last update all ties to the elby key ended, now they only offer a 15 dollar discount.

You stick with the older version's, it's blacklisted has been for awhile now, this new update is the first update to fix the blacklisting problem in over a year, with what the new one can do now it really does make the old one useless.

Olli's explanation it can be found at cdfreaks

lickablepig 25th Sep 04 10:21 PM

Haven't seen any or much difference in the two as far as end results.

good reads @cdfreaks btw, thanks for reminder kamikazee

what version number are ya'll using? Thanks!

I'm using SlySoft:
SlySoft CloneCD 4.3.3.1
SlySoft AnyDVD 3.6.6.1
along with Nero Ultra Edition 6.3.1.25, DVD Decrypter 3.5.1.0, DVDShrink 3.2.0.15...
