Hey Guys,
Well what a supprise. Cant believe this. RR has been the wrost ISP I have ever had and finally they are getting their act together. On the phone right now with them at this very moment. On hold of course. lol Anyways getting upgraded to 6mb/2mb. Wireless too. hehe :) BRB |
nice, my ISP just dropped out newsgroup speeds dramatically :( down from 325KB/sec to 64KB/sec
|
War,
6MB/2MB???? i'm on RR too but they didn't seem to know what i was talking about. Is this another of their regional things? Quote:

Yeah that sucks. I can download from newsgroups before like at 1.5mbps so now even faster. Just rebooted modem. Just 2.3mbps though at the moment. Damn settings are all set for 3mbps or so.
Well poopie anyone got any good tweaks settings for 6mbps/2mbps ??? Thanks, Will Everything looking good at dsl reports. Well I did change to Receive Window (RWIN): 65535. But speed is still stuck though. Your download speed : 2423598 bps, or 2366 kbps. A 295.8 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 223588 bps, or 218 kbps |

Still ok if its 512kbps but that kinda sucks. :( Hope not. Seems to be atm. 62kbps upload. Which yea is 512kbps. :( But pretty sure because I got it capped at around 40 with tweaks or whatever. Was hopping cablenut and settings for 6mbps plus but 3.5 is the highest. Well besides 10mb/10mb. lol But about to see what it does. :) But anyways you guys know of any software to limit connection speeds? Both download and upload. Seeing as I am sharing with my brtother. And having to pay the extra $20 a month for the upgrade so no way in hell is he getting my extra bandwidth. |
OK, bit the bullet and went ahead and did the upgrade to the 6 MB. Took about 5 minutes for them to reset the modem and do the programming. Works great! Thanks War for the information and the post. Heck, I didn't even know they had a higher speed over 3 MB in the residential class till i read your post. :)

war I recommend netlimiter

And damn yeap 6mb/512kbps. They said they were going to do 2mb and told teh tech to tell me but he did not so I just got three months free. :) Cause he mistold me the truth on accident. Not his fault though. His admin or whatever did not tell him. I'm just fianlly happy for once with RR. :) Heard they firied about 50 admins in my area so that might be the reason. :) Though I hope upload goes up soon. Going to call back tonight and ask if they have any plans to have faster uploads in the near future. And tweaked now pretty good. :) CableNut works great. Download the update too. And use OOL 10000 1000 as its working great. poopie I need a job. I cant afford to loose this baby or I will go nots. I'm loving it. But damn $70 a month plus $50 just for damn basic donkey cable. :( AND NO DMAN JOB :( lol I'll be broke in 3 months. :( Anyways, anyone have any other tweaks? Well NetLimiter is not really want I want it seems. What I want is a way to limit my brothers ip address. Everything. Not just like a proxy. What I was looking at early. Since you would have to setup every app. I need something that just sets between his connection and the out side world you know. Which limits how much bandwidth he uses. Ok see I got 6mbps down right. So I want to only be able to use max 3mpbs at one time but still let me use the full 6. ATM I turned on QoS Packet Scheduler and set to 50% but not really working right for some reason. Yes restated. CCProxy works for limited ie for example and ftp once I setup his ftp client. But still everything else cant still use max. Since its just a proxy. But guess the wrong kinda. So really what I need his to make his enteir ip address route though a proxy which limits bandwidth right? You can tell i've never done this before. lol Sorry if I am confusing the hell out of you. lol |
QoS will not do what you want, thats not its purpose. You probably need something similar to net limiter. I've got some information somewhere on a professional network software package that will do exactly what you want, but I can't seem to find it right now. If I do i'll let you know.

Damn I have been busy since the upgrade. lol
![]() Before and after upgrade. lol Would be a lot, a whole lot more if I download and uploaded 24/7 at max speed. hehe Just amazing. Had no clue I was eating that much. Pretty damn sweet. Though I am praying for 2mb upload soon. |
