Avast Pro 4.1 here :)

KingCobra 7th Aug 04 12:17 PM

I'm using:

NIS, NAV, F-Protect and the free AVG.

Yep all at the sametime. :P

If I didn't have such a fast system I would not use NAV/NIS because the program does put a drag on slower systems. But running under my AMD 2.10 GHz and 1.5 Gig of RAM I don't notice the drag.

Non antivirus. ;)

MinnesotaKid 10th Aug 04 03:53 AM

Went back to NAV after finding out how poorly NOD32 stops trojans and the totally flawed quarantine function in the program.

There is one problem with F-Prot Antivirus.

Outlook and similar e-mail programs:
Attachments are scanned when an attempt is made to run/open them whereas with NOD32 Antivirus, it is scanned while receiving.

Oh well, it's still not bad. :)

To test how F-Prot responds to email viruses, I actually double clicked an attachment in one of the emails -- price.exe which was Bagle-AG.

F-Prot was uptodate but it didnt respond immediately. Couple of dos windows open here and there. After like 30 mins, F-Prot displayed a warning saying: Windows\System32\_dll.dll is infected by the worm.

It would be better if F-Prot scanned incoming emails just like Norton, NOD32 and avast! etc..

Still using NAV 2003.

thnx for the warning. it's just that I don't see it as a problem because I don't doubleclick attachments. :D

Me either. You should always save them and right click scan them bad boys. ;)

Funny, I just spent the weekend testing several of these proggies, and settled on Kapersky..

NAV sucks resources like a cheap whore..
F-Prot didn't immediately detect viruses; can't have that..
Symantec causes issues with certain VPN's
Trend was kinda interesting, but sort of a pain to configure..
NOD has lots of false alarms...

So, I think I will keep Kaspersky Pro for awhile, and see how I like it..

I wish it had a pop up window when you send and recieve email from Outlook; I kinda like the programs that show that..makes you feel like they are definately working!

Bads 6th Sep 04 09:28 PM

Just use NOD32 and I like it :)

Stringent 6th Sep 04 11:25 PM

Sophos Antivirus.
