hey guys?

Howcome B1 uses Invision Board?
Its not free is it?

Why not use phpBB.
Uses a MySQL DB as well, and is free

Also has avatars, signitures, and other info as well as private messages.

Why we paying for something we could get for free?

Just a thought

regards,
Mo

I think IBF is still Free. Sony confirmed it in the following thread.

You can use it as much as you want for evaluation purpose , if you like it and would like to stop evaluating it they suggest you pay for the registration and to remove the trial form the bottom of the board

Invision Board v2.0 will not be free :( But the version 1.3 is for testing evaluation if you want ;)

PHPBB is absolute PANTS!

IB is much better. There is always Ikonboard as well for a free bulletin board. Thanks for the heads up Bads, didn't know IB wasn't going to be free from version 2.0 onward.

I used to use PHPBB with nuke on an old version of my site. It sucked big time. Sure its free, but I could never get the hack I needed for it. I just found it lame. it still is IMO.

I think Invision board is great, even 1.3 is great for free, far better than PHPBB IMO.

vBulletin is good, but you pay for it, you pay a heck of a lot for it!

I use Invision Power Board 1.3.1 + MyIbportal 1.2 ;)

I like them because there are many Mod to install for your needs

SO far the good ones they come out free then they want you to pay

hopefully 2.0 won't cost you an arm and a leg

ps

what was the reason the ipb staff left again. I mean the reason they left vB i think.

robinwilson16 25th Jul 04 07:17 PM

I have tried Vbulletin and phpbb but IPB is my favorite, especially version 2 B)

war59312 26th Jul 04 04:56 AM

Finally 2.0 installed. Guess you dont own a copy. 2.0 PF2 is the latest build. ;)

belthazor 26th Jul 04 08:31 AM

No we don't own it..........yet. ;)

I don't know where the rumors came from that IBF 2.0 will no longer offer a free version. Judging by invisions site, the situation is exactly the same as for 1.0. You can use it for free if you want, but if you pay you get some additional features.

I hate invision board. I find invision board 2.0 to be nothing but a pain in the donkey. Then I to use to vbulletin ----

war59312 27th Jul 04 02:15 AM

I personally love 1.3.1 and have not really messed with 2.0. Waiting for it to go gold myself. Which I hope is soon.
