Lets see how good we really are around here..
Lots of folks are converting DVD's to one large .img file, and sending them around that way..
Does anyone know of a proggie that allows you to extract the .img file directly to a folder or DVD in one step, then burns it?

What procedures do YOU use to extract a .img to burn it to a dvd?

It takes me a few steps usually, changing it to an .iso, then saving the .iso somewhere, extracting it to my HD, then burning from there..I know there HAS to be an easier way..

Thanks, everyone..

i use alcohol 120% to mount the .img file. then i just copy on the fly over to the DVD disk using Nero or EZ CD. works fine.

not sure if thats your question, but thats how i do it.

Morne

Change .img to .iso and burn

After Posting reread..kinda early... Why do you want to extract it to folders. By changing extension to iso can burn with any program. Usually all the img files are at the 4.3 mark.

well. when I change it to an .iso and burn, all i get is an .iso file burned onto a cd, NOT the extracted VideoTS and AudioTS directories and files you need to play the dvd..I think I am not setting something correctly in my burning programs..

use alcohol 120%. mount the image use it, then do a disk copy from the virtual drive to the DVD blank.

trust me on this one.

wase4711 14th Jul 04 03:07 PM

hey Mo;

can I mount it onto one of my 2 cd/dvd drives, or does it have to mounted to a "virtual" one?
I've had problems using virtual drives on my machine with Alchohol 120 before, but I will try it again, if you must mount it to a virtual driive..

thanks for the help!

Yes Mike, you need to mount it to a virtual drive. Alcohol will do the lot for you- it will even burn the .img file straight to DVD so you can forgoe the extraction process- you won't even have to mount it.

Start Alcohol, choose "Image Burning Wizard". Select the image file you want to burn and set it burning- easy as that :D

The same applies for DvdDecrypter.....it still surprises me that almost no1 knows that this program can BURN too.....

In fact, the "supported images" list is almost as impressive as Alcohol's list.....DvdDecrypter has native support for 11 different imageformats.....what FREEWARE program does better????? ;)

wase4711 14th Jul 04 05:49 PM

thanks, Mo, and everyone else..I did the Alchohol mounting, and it burned perfectly!!

what a great source of knowledge we have here at B1!!! :P :P

This happens to be the FIRST real topic that i could actually totally help on. All the others I've just mostly request, or ask stuff myself, but this is my first topic, that i REALLY am able to help on

:D

I FEEL SO HAPPY NOW :)

My last effort I used DVD Decrypto, of all things, and it burned the movie to dvd, no problems. I was surprised by this. It worked well.

You're not the only 1.....lots of people are.
Almost every1 uses it to rip dvd's,but the program has lots of potential,
it can write:
.IMG .CDR .GI
.BIN .ISO .MDS
.NRG .PDI
and a few exotic formats

I also supports5 different aspi layers...

Another tip:

If you're browsing a folder with a supported imageformat, you can simply drag and drop that image to the Dvd Decrypter desktop icon, the program will load it automaticly, and you just have to hit the"burn" button.;)

PS:
to the crew:I have nothing to do with it,nor do I earn money by promoting this program,it's just that I wanna point out that this superb freeware program can do things in a way which lots of shareware developers still can learn from. ..;)

Amen, roadworker,

I generally use Nero Recode 2 with AnyDVD, but wow, this last experience burning an img file directly to DVD renewed my inerest in DVD Decryptor, which I've always maintained on my system, but only used in selective situations.

nice call *MO*

dvd decryptor is da best lil kept freeware secret going, although hardly a secret i find in combo with dvd shrink & da nero api u can do just about anyting... very helpful and it's supported teh three play very well together

side note... jiz scratches head
seems it always works for me when u just change the extention to .iso then burn.
