Hello,

Since I have installed my D-Link router, I'm no longer able to use a ftp software :(

This is a DI-604 and I'm running windows XP Sp2 with ZA as firewall.

I just can have access to my ftp in a LAN 192.168.0.100 etc.........I really need help.

Thanks

Why can't run a server behind router> Should be able to port forward

Bads 30th Mar 04 10:49 PM

How can I do that ? Please

HotRod 30th Mar 04 11:53 PM

on my router, Linksys. I can goto http://192.168.1.1 and make settings. Check the manual and see if you can on your router

unicorn 31st Mar 04 12:00 AM

Using a D-link...Any computer on your LAn should be able to acces the router using the IP: 192.168.0.1 Then logon as admin and set the things needed to be set.
The manual is available for download at their homesite.

Once you get into your router (can't help ya with DLink), this will help you with the general FTP settings...

My server seems to be working now ;) But without ZA :( When I start ZA, i can't run my server

HotRod 31st Mar 04 05:27 PM

In ZA put your router IP as a trusted zone. Also make sure network is in trusted zone.

Bads
You running DMZ Host pointing to machine that has the server on it? DMZ will pass all ports to that machine

For what it is worth. I find the D-Link router a difficult router to configure.

I like the LinkSys router, Belkin router and even better the new wireless NetGear router. D-Link? Return it to the dealer. I have all 4 of these units in wireless versions and am ready to donate the D-Link to the anyone who would like it. I live in Toronto. Lemme know.

Lol. And if you are in Europe you can have my one, a model 604 floating around in it's box here.

dangit, i hate this router. i'm having the same problem. trying to get a server running on my laptop but it refuses to work.

i had it working on my desktop, but i moved and moved it with me and i don't need a router there, but i left my laptop at my regular home and i need to setup a server with it. i have allowed it in the dmz, setup the port forwarding (actually just changed the ip from the desktop to the laptop since it worked when the desktop used it), have allowed ZA to let it go through.

disabled ZA and it still won't go through.

can anyone help?

Bads 9th Apr 04 02:46 PM

You have to set a new rule in ZoneAlarm ;)

Works for me

HotRod 9th Apr 04 02:49 PM

Seeing how you've not done anything to router, changed the laptop IP (static) to old desktop IP and turned off ZA. Sounds like it may be a program setting. Can you log into your own server?

Bads 9th Apr 04 02:53 PM

Yes I can ;)

HotRod 9th Apr 04 03:01 PM

Bads
I know you can,. you already got it figured out.

adams 9th Apr 04 03:17 PM

no, i've tried connecting with cuteftp (non-passive and passive) and i can't connect.

using guildftp as the server.

edit: in the router setup, what does the protocol need to be set at? right now its at TCP.

HotRod 9th Apr 04 03:20 PM

should be able to connect to your own server ex.
192.xx.xx.xx port and user/pass

adams 9th Apr 04 03:25 PM

nope, tried 192.xxx.xxx.x and my real ip, neither work.

HotRod 9th Apr 04 03:30 PM

Makes no sense. Should be able to connect to own server using LAN IP try IP 127.0.0.1

adams 9th Apr 04 03:39 PM

still won't work.

am i supposed to be typing this in an ftp client or just ie? anyways, i tried both and neither work.

HotRod 9th Apr 04 03:54 PM

with server running should be able to start client or IE (but client better because can see more what's going on) and use
IP 127.0.0.1 or lan IP (192.168.x.xxx) or WAN IP
Port#
User/pass and log into your server
Up until you can log into own server no use trying to figure out router.

adams 9th Apr 04 04:03 PM

arrgh, i feel stupid. i kept entering 192.168.0.2 when it should have been 192.168.0.102

i can get in that way now.

HotRod 9th Apr 04 04:08 PM

now log back into router and make sure DMZ is pointing to 192.168.0.102. With ZA off should be able to login. Don't run Long with ZA off because all ports forwarded to machine IN DMZ Mode

adams 9th Apr 04 04:11 PM

in the router changed dmz it to the correct address. za has been off during this whole process and will continue to be off until i can get it working.

can't connect using real ip addy.

HotRod 9th Apr 04 04:36 PM

Sent you a message. Only thing I can think of, is machine setup as static? MAybe set gateway and dns as the router IP
