This is not a new link, but I'm sure there are many peeps out there that might have never used it. With all the 911 changes, I was kind of shocked to find this still on the web.

Here's my house. Well it's easy to see how big our backyard is since it looks a little dry from the sky. :D

I have often wondered the same thing, because it will on let you zoom in just so close. There are other sites as well and all of them that I know of will only let you zoom just so close. If we can do that, then what is really up there that we do NOT know about or have access to. Just makes one wonder is all

Thanks

Hi,

Well, since the latest photos are from 1994, all I see is a large graded area at my address. My house was not built until 1999 ;-)

Sorry to hear that, because not all the pictures are from 1994. The picture I attached was from 1999 and I have seen as recent as 2000 on there. Look around and you will find them. Try going more north. :)

Wow KC - that's a pretty big back yard :D

I broke down and bought a 7 day subscription for $7.00 at www.terraserver.com so I could zoom in more. Here's a picture I got of a friends home, not bad. B)

JacKDynne 15th Mar 04 01:07 AM

TRYJAY 15th Mar 04 02:32 AM

TRYJAY 15th Mar 04 02:33 AM

Hey kingcobra, if I gave you the cordinates, would you redo my home???
TIA!!!!!!

KingCobra 15th Mar 04 02:40 AM

Sure TRYJAY. Drop me a PM with the address, state & zip and I'll get it for you.

I have found some of the pictures don't zoom as far as my friends house, but I'll give it a shot. B)

The UK introduced a similar project in the late 1990's. The aim was to have a publicly availible satellite view spanning the entire UK.

Unfortunatly the pictures were taken just before we had a major extension (practically rebuilt the house from scratch), so my house is barely recognisable from the old pics.

Nothing, most likely. The best imaging satellites such as the landsat have an optical resolution of about 1 metre. This means you will be unable to resolve and details smaller than 3 feet on the earth's surface. It's already an incredible accomplishment, considering light gets scattered/diffused in the atmosphere, there will always be some clouds/dust, etc. It's unlikely we will ever see more detailed satelite imagery. If you want higher resolutions you'd need images from helicopters/low flying aircraft.
