Hello,Came home after work yesterday to find that the family computer was really messed up. I cant read nothing(its like everything is in wingding font)and with it being like that i can't work my way around at all. Running XPsp1

Maybe a virus ??

Last week I have to format my drive because all was really messed up :(

I tried for several days to repair it but nothing to do. I lose my profile and after that, the taskbar :angry:

Yes I would be interested in the results of an updated SpyBot Search & Destroy and Adaware. :unsure:

:angry: Well I did the nortons and adware no luck so i went searching for my Fonts in windows what fun that was looking at wingdings :blink: and when i found it,the folder was empty :unsure: I clicked back and the computer stalled for a second or two, then i could read everything in the Windows folder but the header was still in wingding font and the desktop too. so any help at this point would be gr8

I had the exact same problem.
I found my fonts under Winnt, but not under windows.

Eventually I had to re-install XP.

I assume when you ran Adaware, you had already downloaded the most recent sig files? Did you also run SpyBot Search & Destroy and it wouldn't hurt to also run SpywareBlaster. I run all three, because sometimes one of them are ahead of the other on sig updates. They are all freeware. B)

is it every font on the computer? like folder / file labels, addresses you type in ie, etc. etc., or just certain things? could you post a screenshot of what you mean exactly?

Does anyone else have access to ur box? As in mischievous prank?

Dartman did you try last known good? If the restore feature is turned on you could always try that first before you consider reinstalling.

Yes,Sephiroth every thing is in wingding font untill I access Windows Font folder then i can read some stuff, after i install the fonts everything is normal, but when i exit that folder all the fonts go missing again, and if i reboot its a messed up again.
ihave been reading up on it a bit looks like all i can do is a reinstall of XP

I thought of that lickablepig but nobody has access to my computer, as for a restore its on but it will not restore i have tried it 4or 5 times it keeps saying
there is a error and that a retore is not possible. i even tried a restore while in safemode but no luck.

Is there something wrong with the magic functions within your font directory? Is it possible to fix it using the TweakUI (part of Powertoys) utility with the reapir option most bottom in the list at the left when loading TweakUI?
Sounds to easy but it can't hurt to try.
