Ok, my Spybot Search & Destroy and Spyware Blaster are all up to date and neither of them could fix this.

Today I played some games on a new site:

Code:

http://www.addictinggames.com/
Now everytime I enter a wrong website I get forwarded to this site:

Code:

I'm going to do a system restore after I backup my family photos.

I'll post here with the results.

Good Luck!

I remember when everyone said restore wasen't any good.
Heck, I use it all the time

I've used XP Restore in the past and it worked.

Sad to say it didn't work this time. :(

Maybe others will have an answer or my spyware programs will have an update soon.

Edit - OK I gave in and downloaded AdAware even though I've tested it before against SpyBot and Spyware Blaster and it came up short. Sure enough though this time it fixed my problem. Now I'm going to be running all three programs.

Hey KC,

It had to be one of them sites off of AddictingGames.Com. Maybe you hit one of them stupid "Do you wish to install the following software" scenarios? Almost gets me every now and then.

Those are usually the toughest ones to get rid of once installed... You should try PestPatrol... I do not know if they offer a trial, but it seems to keep my system rather "pest" free. ;)

I'll bet my 7 year old son click on one of those. I let him play on that site. Anyway as noted above, AdAware took care of my problem. Thanks again. B)

I use all 3 also, KC...sometimes they all find things the others didnt...

war59312 1st Jan 04 03:45 AM

Agree I use all three as well and Nortan AntiVirus 2004. I also block a ton of ip address. 264,020,328 that is. lol So I hardly ever get any spyware and even if I do it cant really do anything.

That and I do silent scans every night at 4am. :)

It's spyware. Its an Adult content dialler which dials no.s specific to porn related sites.

Or it might be something else. Optimize.exe is also a virus. The icon is a round funny face like a moon.It won't optimize anything. The virus name is W32 Downloader.Dyfuca. Use F-Prot from dos to get rid of it or else don't open this virus hidden as an exe file.

Anyways just delete Optimize.exe through dos. Assume u using winxp. Just open task manger and kill explorer.exe and then in task manager click file and then run and type in cmd and then do a serach for Optimize.exe and delete it.

Also, check out these reg keys for it to run on startup:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder

That should take care of it. Also scan with anitvirus software such as norton. Need more help just ask.

cya,
Will
