Ad aware does spam?
|
I'd like to report back on Spam Weed, subject of felixml's post. I've been using it for 2 days now. I think it has good possibilities. Beats the pants off McAfee Spam Killer v 4. I've got it installed on each of 4 pc's on the LAN. Spam Weed needs a small amout of training, but after that it runs very well.
Btw, it's version 1.3.2, the latest on on the editor's web site. You can get confused about version 1.0, 1.1 and even the beta. It's a keeper. :) |
Listen, I know we are discussing anti-spam proggies, but why not just use the filters included with Outlook. Anyone not in my address book has their message deleted. Even Hotmail has that. 100% effective. I know we don't all use Outlook, just my .02.

MinnesotaKid, I don't do that because I do receive e-mail from people not in my book. SpamWeed is working at more than 90% today. It let 1 of 25 through on one of my e-mail accounts. I have 2 ISP's and SpamWeed will handle both. It's simple and silent. It automatically sends me an e-mail at periods I specify to tell me what was blocked in case I forget to look. On day one it considered 2 valid e-mails as junk, All I had to do was a mouse click to add those to the White List.
I use hotmail for my registrations to boards and stuff. It's filter is about as effective as McAfee Spam Killer--70% or so. I got on a lot of spam lists after making some posts on news groups. But, I also note that scanners seem to be able to get into isp data bases. I'm getting some spams with headers that show 4 and 5 adresses on the same spam, in alpha order. |

NP Works pretty damn good once you have everything setup the way you like. Even though I never get spam!!! I just have it setup to seprate all my friends, family, school, board, news, etc.

Update: Spam Weed v.1.3.2 is doing the job. Gonna stick with it for now.
