Metallica isn't overrated, there guitarist alone made them a great band. Nirvana revolutionized music whether you like it or not, just like RUN DMC with rap. I could vouche for the Beatles, they did suck alot, but my piece of pie goes to Linkin Park. It amazes me that you can have a multi-platinum band without a guitarist who actually knows how to play it. I don't mean that he isn't a good guitarist, I am saying he can actually not play, literally.

I think we may be forgetting that these are all opinions and we probably should not be arguing/disagreeing about something like this. It's just a bunch of opinions and that's why we have such a broad range of bands who are doing well, and some who are not.

That said, I THINK that the Beatles are the most over-rated and if Elvis was a band, I would include him as well. I don't really focus on bands per se rather, the actual songs/music.

I like songs from all over the musical spectrum...from classical, bluegrass, country, rock, metal, oldies, rap, reggae, pop (including certain songs from girl bands/boy bands), alternative (which isn't really alternative anymore), and even opera.

My .02!!!

Backstreet Boys and Nsync have been around longer than Nirvana ever was.
Nirvana did nothing to "revolutionize" music.

Beatles revolutionized music. They were doing farout things before anyone else did.
Using eastern instruments in western music; etc.

well I'd have to disagree with you. in my opinion Nirvana did revolutionize music, wich by the way has nothing to do with how long the band is around. Maybe they revolutionized music in a slightly diffrent way, with nirvana it was the the lyrics more then anything else. They really showed all the hate in the world, and what was wrong with the world.

yeah I guess but I guess it was the way that Nirvana did it. Nirvana basicly introduced the world to Grunge music, it got a way from he pop and all that. They were the first from this genara (yeha i know I can't spell wirth shit) that really became popular.

anyway thats what i think.

Yeah they were the first grunge band and the ones who started the whole seattle scene .. Just Like Bon Jovi did with Hair Metal, Black Sabbath did with Heavy Metal, Elvis did with Rock and Roll (well that is kinda false, Bill Haley and the comets were the first "Rock" Band Just elvis increased the popularity), Bill Monroe did with Blue Grass, and Hank Williams did with Country .. You all see where I am going with this.
