Not boring at all KC - you are part of the family and we are all concerned about our newest little girl and how you and your immediate family are coping. Next time you see the little one tell her to hang in there and that we are all pulling for her :)
Prayers and thoughts are with you :) /JD |
I wish your girlie all the best and hope that this nightmare is over soon for you and the family....keep the faith,KC!!

KC
I also check in here whenever I log on (daily) and as all have said, by no means think that you you are boring us. Remember that we are "family" here as well and I read through this thread each day hoping for positive news. So keep on posting and keep us updated. As stated my family and I are have Abigail and your whole family in our prayers each day. Just shout if I can help in any other way possible. Cheerz Dave |
please keep updates of Abigail if possible as we are worried abouther as she is one off our youngest members and part of the family
god bless |
You guys
Today we were at the hospital at 7am and at 10am my wife had very sharp pains that lasted for 30+ minutes. She rated them as an 8 which I trust since she didn't use any meds during delivery. Her OBGYN doctor said to get checked out in the ER, after all we were already in the hospital. After four hours in the ER and a shot (M.A.S.H. style) my wife was told to go home. She has a follow-up in the ER at 11am Wednesday when we return to see Abigail. I told her she needed to slow down, but I'm just a guy. We don't know anything do we. :p As for Abigail's progress today... her x-ray looked good enough to try and feed her to see if everything passes through her ok. We will know more about that Wednesday. She did get the PIC line like we thought and the have not yet ruled out the biopsy for Hirschsprung's Disease. |
My prayers are with you and your family, KC., all my best wishes buddy.
|
A real friend always listens. That said, it looks like you have alot of them here KC. Don't ever feel like you can't post about something like this KC. Mine and many other's thoughts are with you and the little one. :)

Just got back and I have some good news and I've attached a new picture. The blanket covers up all her tubes other than the one in her nose. Today they started to feed her from a bottle, 20cc's every three hours. Both my wife and I each feed her 20cc's today and we were able to hold her in our lap.
Now we sit and wait to see if it all passes through her ok. The test results for CF should be back on Friday and if they are neg then they will do the biopsy for Hirschsprung's Disease. |
I have an odd request. I have no reason to believe that Abigail will be discharged anytime soon, but I do look forward to that day. I assume maybe this weekend or early next week, who knows because the doctors will not even give me a hint. I'd like to do something special for Abigail and also surprise my wife.
My idea... I'd like to get a newborn t-shirt that say's "I survived the NICU" with the hospital logo I have attached here. I'm open to other ideas or just a spin off of mine. Many of you are much better at graphics than I will ever be. If I had the graphic, I could either use an iron on trasfer off my printer or maybe cafepress.com Thanks in advance if anyone is interested. |
I'll pray for you all and all our thought are with your family !!
|
That has to be a good sign :)
|
Well I just woke up and placed a phone call to Abby's bedside and spoke with her nurse. I asked if she had a #2 because she has had food for over 24hrs now. The nurse said she didn't. If she did have one soon things would be looking up, but since she has not had one yet things are looking bad. :(

All the best KC and stay positive. I know it's easier said than done but please try to stay in that mindframe :)
The prayers are still coming and I threw a little graphic together real quick - I have included a jpg - if you want the psd then let me know; it's too big to attach. Hang in there m8 - I know it's tough. /JD |
Just remember that you have a lot of people praying, keep the faith, I'm sure the prayers are being answered as I write. Keep us informed and let us know if there is anything else we can do.
|
Thanks JD, your the best
She still has not had a #2 and if she still don't by 1pm they will make it happen. More updates later as I receive them. Edit - Ok Abigail is now just over a week old and I need to step away from this topic from time to time. Because of this I'm closing this thread and anyone wanting updates can find them at www.proverbs26verse11.com Once again thanks to everyone for their continued prayers, thoughts and kind words. |
Thread open now!
Well she recently was tested due to some blood we found in her stool and she has a formula protein allergy. This means any regular or soy formulas. It was very hard to see and if any new parents question blood in their infants stool this test is easy and fast, like testing cocaine. Ask your doctor. Quote:

I wish you, your family, and particularly Abigail all the best. I hope the toughest times are behind you.
|
Thanks for the update KC. I'm sure that she will continue to get stronger and better all the time. I still have her and your family on the prayer list.
|
Be blessed that things are looking up. My mate's sister just had to abort her second child because of a very severe case of trisomy 18. It was very hard on her family. With all the good signs that are showing in your little girl, it must be a relief.
Be well! |
KC...and especially the baby and Mom have been in my prayers as others here have already stated as well. I am glad that all is better and seems as though things will slowly get back to normal. She is very cute, she must have taken after her mother 'cause men are NOT that cute...jk. God Bless, and keep all safe.
Thanks Dudelive |

She looks almost as good as my granddaughter does. Hehehe
Glad things are getting back to normal, well....do we know what normal is? Babies crying, older children pitching fits, mom crying, dad pulling out his hair. Then all is quite and peacefull and you still look in on them to be sure all is fine before you can go to sleep. Thanks Dudelive |
Hey KC. She's getting more beautiful every day.
Glad to hear everything is going better, and good luck with the budget. He he he Later mate |
My prayers are with you KC :)
Hang in there m8 :) /JD |
KC,
i'm happy to hear that your little girl is doing better. If there is anything we can do to help you out just shout. I can't believe health care is not helping you with any of the cost, that is truly shameful. All my best regards Sony |
Thanks for the update KC, glad to hear the good news. Great picture, she sure is a cutie...

KC, thanks go out to the good Lord above for the look on her face. She sure is cute, but me being a grandfather I sorta have a soft spot for babies. They did not ask to come into this cruel world but it is the least that we all can do to make their world and them a better place.
Here you are from the picture above. Thanks Dudelive |
@Dudelive - You are so correct, thank the Lord! Thanks for the work done on the picture. I tried to use your revised picture my new avatar, but I received the message: "That image is too large. The maximum dimensions are 80 by 80 pixels." :(

He you go KC, resized the pic.
 |
Thanks, I often use HyperSnap to resize but didn't have it on my machine. I have it installed now, but no need to resize it as you have already done it for me. Thanks guys. Heading off to my User CP right now to make the change.

KC,
Changed the background so it matches the box and blends nicely :) /JD |
Got it JD, thanks!
|
@JD - Thanks again for your recent PM, your continued thoughts are GREATLY appreciated! Yes, I updated the family site after your PM and here is the most recent picture available. I just picked up the pictures from Target yesterday and although I have all the poses on my family site... I'll only bore my iFamily with one of them.

Guess who's walking using her walking toy.
Abby just recently turned 9 months and smiles all the time. She has daddy's dimples. :D ![]() |
She looks great KC :) I'm really happy for you guys :)
And thanks for sharing your joy with us, it means a lot to many people :) /JD |
I go nuts over little girls. Wonderful. 9 months is early for walking, no?
|
Yes, 9 months is GREAT! Even better for her because she was born a month early and the doctors told us that when it comes to stage steps, she would always be a month behind a normal newborn that went full term.
She's a champ! :D |
Hi KC.
The last 9 months must have been a challenge and I very glad to see that everything turned out for the better. We only have the one kid so far and that is sometimes a challenge, but seeing your commitment and love for all your children ( and pets ;) ) is inspiring. I'm so glad to see Abby going about like a kid should and this tells me that she is truly blessed. We love our little boy so much and it's a great feeling to have that in a family, I can only imagine all the love in your house.. You guys must be walking 1 cm from the ground hehe. Thank you for sharing your last 9 months with us. It truly reminds us what love is all about. Cheers J... |
Great pic KC, the smile says it all.
|
Edit - I edited this previous post because I didn't want to bump the thread. Those of you that think about her will search and find this update.
She just turned 1 year old on 1/20/2006. Here's her 1 year old picture: www.TheLawsZoo.com |
