One thing is for sure.. RaidenFTP comes with its own glamorous login "thingy." I tried it on my computer, and it looked like someone had taken an ascii maker to my login memo for serv-u.. I was slightly impressed too, though I have never used the mentioned script before.
Its says that it allow ones ftp to "push" at 100Mb/s or max NIC speed. I tried this... Nope.. it wasn't able to do that over LAN. It capped its self with a 500KB/s upload and a 400KB/s download. Though that was on a 10Mb network segment. Does that make a difference?? Cause on a 100Mb segment, a friend and I created alot of switch traffic. I was downloading & uploading from him and he was downloading and uploading @ my computer. The average speed on each thread was 6000-7000KB/s!!!!! Or is that possible? |
Finally it happend.

I copied the 3 servers into another computer, in dir1, dir2, dir3, then upgraded them 1 by 1 to 6.0.0.1 before shutting them all down. Then fresh installed v6 in default folder, and made 3 domains, using the 3 different ports we used to run. Added a dummy user in each of them, User1, User2, User3. All of this with the userbases in the normal .INI file. Then I shut it down, now the "fun" began..... By using the newly made .INI file as a template, I edited the 3 updated .INI files, then some copy&paste turned the fresh .INI file into a rather complex one  After I restarted the freshly installed server, with the edited .INI file, it all loked well, and we did some tests to make sure the users where able to log in as before. Now for the real test .... The running servers on the original computer was shut down, ServU 6.0.0.1 was installed using default folders, the "hacked" .INI file was beeing copied into that folder, and the server was started, serving all users and domains  Some small differences has been found, that I don't really like, especially with the "Group" seetings beeing somewhat limited compared to the good old 2.5 version. So stay tuned for a new update in a year or so  as I might want to change to something "better".... |
Hi
I've been waiting for this since June 2003. Now I'm supposed to stay tuned as you might update to something better in a year or so... Lol - ok, I'll stay tuned! Congratulations to the successfully accomplished merge and update! |
My congratulations too for completing the merging process safely. :)
Cheers, McoreD |
