Gonna give those 2 a try Flanderz.
If you have time the broadcast recorded on http://www.mailwiper.com is interesting--you need a little patience, tho. |
Since this topic does not talk about just one program but several different programs of the same type and your asking a question, I think it's in the wrong section.
Moving to Chit Chat.... Ha n G O n  |
For now . i don't use any of them !!!
Im lucky .. i didn't receive alot of spam for now .. maybe in the future i will need to use one ! |
my isp setup a spam blocker for us users and it blocks about 95% of the spam i get. (usually about 400 emails a week). so i don't have any spam blocker except for them.

Here's a trick for the future:
Your private email address (the one you get from your ISP) don't give out to anyone aside from family and close friends. For all other correspondence get a few free accounts at hotmail or any of the other free web-based hosts. Use one of em for all other correspondence, use one of em for when you fill out web forms that need email addresses (like discussion boards, etc.) and use one for when you fill out "contest" forms or *ahem* websites of a 'racy' nature ;) That way your private email is kept clean and all the spam goes to someone elses server to clog it up, they can deal with it and you can pretty much ignore the majority of it :D It may sound like a hassle to set it all up but it is not too hard to have your email client check more than one account and in the long run is a lot less of a hassle than dealing with all that spam ;) Hope this helps some :) |
I have two email addresses, one I use for personal correspondance, the other for filling in forms etc from the net. I get a ton of spam to the latter, and have decide to migrate to another one. Even my personal one is not immune though, I get a couple now and then. Now I ask you, I only give that out to proper living people (ie friends, yes I do have them ;)) so how do spammers get it when thats the only method I have? The other I understand, not this one.
I HATE SPAM! Oh due to the nature of my Email prog, I don't have a spam blocker. |
I using Spam Inspector Microsoft Outlook Ecpress Edition.

FIGHTBACK with the SPAM INSPECTOR Help the Internet community by REPORTING spammers to their Internet Service Providers and get off junk mail lists by BOUNCING email back to spammers fooling them into believing your email address is "INVALID", all with the click of a button. Ya have to love those free email accounts, too much SPAM... Make a new account. :D
I make sure that every email I send out to more than one person I always put my email address in the TO: and BCC: everyone I want to sent it to. Why? To avaid giving away the peoples email address from my address book. It don't really keep my email from being SPAM but I want to keep other peoples email address as private as I can. Maybe they will repay the favor and do the same when emailing me. :) |
Ah ha! That's the NY mentality KC. :) Not a bad idea.
My sister continues to claim that Mail Wipe continues to be 100% effective on her 100+ spams a day. I've installed Spam Weed, posted by felixml on another thread and it looks like I suspect Mail Wipe to work, using a matrix of blocking methods. |
Ad aware does the trick for me, reliable and efficent.
