Thanks BearCat, didn't realise there were events in the UK. Having them online is probably better for me as well because I haven't got a car :P

Some pretty cool stuff from Neowin and the launch party...

The event was so-so :yawn:
cant say I was too much impressed by the "media show" they offerd... except Elvis :clown: The sub's and sodas they offerd as a free lunch :eat: was not to bad, but still.... What was most intresting wass Steve Balmers speak, he made some good points, and had a very intresting look on his face when he mentioned Sun Java :censored: :baby: What did I bring back home ? A free 180 Days evaluation of Win 2003 Standard server. Was it worth it, taking a day away from work you may ask ? YES :punk: |

Thanks for the update. I'm scheduled to go on Monday. Is it worth it or should I just blow it off (I've got lots of work piling up :()? Thanks, E3 |
@E3 :
I would say go for it, if your work is piling up, you could need a brake anyways ;) And it might be better "give-aways" and food in your end :) |
Thanks BC... Yes, I went today. It wasn't as good as some of the other launches I've been to, but they did have a really good lunch :). Big push for the updated Sharepoint Services (free beta download soon) but I can tell anyone considering it that the first version was terrible, so be careful. Hey, I got a 180 day trial of Visual Studio .NET 2003 there. Is anyone using it? Does it tie in very uniquely with the 2003 server ware?
Thanks, E3 |
I enjoyed it very much, unusually it was at LA Convention Center, not at a major hotel, or Univeral Studios, as before.
Lunch and breakfast were good, and I found Advertisers/Supporters with booths quite useful and interested in doing business. Presentation equipment was definitely first rate. Presentors from local Santa Monica office competent and friendly. Quality of info and demos good to excellent. Prizes at the end were very nice and everything went smooth and efficiently, at least B+ overall. |
