Actually, I got it from my collection of semi-helpfull tips.
When I see things that might be usefull to me I copy them into Notepad and save them. :rolleyes:

If it wasn't for you installing the service pack I would have said to paste this into the Start\run line:
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\Inf\ie.inf
(another notepad I had laying around).
That one there I never tried but I understand you need your original installation CD, so you might not want to try it since you installe dthe service pack seperatly.

Sorry the first one didn't work for you but thanks for that link cause I never knew you could do the same thing with OE.

Another way of reinstalling IE6 in Windows XP:

Start > Run:

"rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\inf\ie.inf".

Without the quotes. You will need Windows XP CD.

Nothing worked. Had to reinstall windows.
