It's running an Athlon2100 xp with 512Mb 2700ddr ram and a geoforce4 4200/128mb video card

Is that the new southbridge that is replacing the defective 686B or is it the pseudo only partly fixed and renamed 686B?

well if you have the money get the Athlon2600XP it would be the fastest :D. although you can get the 2000+ for $107.00 retail or $97 OEM, from newegg.com. I don't see the 2600+ on there.

EDIT:

just found the 2200+ OEM on newegg for $156.00. You might not want to get OEM though. Because OEM doesn't come with a fan or documentation. and I don't think it has a warrenty, not sure about that though.

I would go for the 2100. For almost 50 $ cheaper than the 2200. The 2600 is still too much $. There is a 2700 coming out in October.
