Try clearing your CMOS

I had this problem some weeks ago. The comp refused to boot. It was completely dead..only the fans were running, even the monitor was black. So I removed the battery and cleared CMOS, replaced with a new batt and the comp did boot up this time, only to get a "checksum error". I had to enter the cmos-setup and set the appropriate settings..save to cmos and exit .....and the computer refused to boot.... once again. So I canīt get any further. If I clear cmos..the comp will boot with default settings...and checksum error but Iīm stuck there, so for the moment this motherboard is thrown in the junk-drawer.

As I said, the machines I built that had these symptoms were dead from the get-go, never booted up, so I don't know if the problem was in the bios or was something else but it was definitely a motherboard problem. In both cases, I RMA'd the motherboard and the new one worked fine.

You will have a Clear-CMOS jumper somewhere on your board, but it may not be marked as such. Look in the manual for your board.
