Hya Bads1,
If it's an APC SmartUPS there should be Win2K software that also work with WinXP. Hopes this helps. Cheers! |

you guys sure have alot of budget for your pc system. over here, maybe 1 in a 1000 a home user would buy a UPS...
normally only companies uses them for servers units only. not even for staffs. good life huh... |
um yeap i got one too
a huge one supplies up to 1 hour of power - my computer, monter, printer, scanner, 19in color tv, fan, and speakers well a ups wont always save u my mother board, modem, grahpics card, and speakers got fried once already...lucky i had warnety on all of them :) however my friend was not so lucky his awhole computer got fried i mean everything luckly his mom and dad make enough money so they bought a new one but the worst thing was that his room was destoryed two of the walls were on the ground in pieces lighting hit his room they said if he would have been home at the time he would have been dead - 100% garntee lucky basterd - got a nice damn computer and tv (fullly sourround system) from his parents and insurenece so it might not save u all the time but it does work still i dont use my computer in a storm - thats just freaking stupid cya |
Cannot imagine being without one.
If you have a decent PC, and you use it, buy one right away. |
How can you be without one today?
Cannot see it myself, advise everyone to get it with a PC right away. |
war i don't use my computer during a storm either.
|
I use them at work, but not at home. I've never had anything but problems with the low end APC models, they always seem to go out after a year. If I were to get something I could trust, I'd go with something on the higher end.

I've thought about getting a UPS just for the line conditioning to protect my hardware; I don't need one for data protection or server operations. Unfortunately, it seems that to get good line conditioning and surge protection I'd have to spring for a heavy-duty, expensive model and I don't want to spend that kind of money.
Advice? |
