You could also try mandrake move - it runs all from the disk (cd) and will give you a decent preview ;)

Hope this helps some :)

adams...i think the Xandros 2.0 or 2.5 is good for Beginner (i a Beginner in Linux).

I hav testet Linspire and the new "Marlin" (is Linspire 5.0 in the Future) and think Xandros OR! Mandrake 10.1 (hav testet is, good) is for beginner the Best Distro.

With Debian 3.0....oh man i hav negative Expirence ! SuSE 9.2 is a not good.

Ok you must self finding the best Version for self.

something like lycoris looked easy, but they only have a 45 day trial. which i'm sure is long enough, but i'd rather not have a limit in my usage time.

then you can try knoppix! (http://www.knoppix.org/)

KNOPPIX is a bootable CD with a collection of GNU/Linux software, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals.
KNOPPIX can be used as a Linux demo, educational CD, rescue system, or adapted and used as a platform for commercial software product demos. It is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk. Due to on-the-fly decompression, the CD can have up to 2 GB of executable software installed on it.

no time limit! linux is free, free as in freedom :)
